Sevilla and Getafe will face each other in La Liga this weekend. The match between Los Nervionenses and the Azulones will be held at Estadio Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán and is scheduled to kick off at 5:30pm UK time on Sunday.

Sevilla

Sevilla are one of the biggest clubs in Spain who consistently feature in the UEFA Champions League and/or the UEFA Europa League. While the Andalusian outfit may not win the La Liga title, they always do tend to end up in the top four or the top six in the standings. Los Nervionenses have finished fourth in the La Liga table for the past four seasons, and ended up sixth in 2018-19 and seventh in 2016-17. Sevilla won the UEFA Europa League in 2013-14, 2014-15, 2015-16 and 2019-20.

However, things are not going so well for Sevilla at the moment. Jorge Sampaoli’s side are really struggling now, and it does not appear likely that they will even challenge for the UEFA Champions League places in the La Liga table this season. Los Hispalenses are as low as third from bottom in the standings at the moment with 12 points from 15 matches, just a point behind 17th-placed Celta de Vigo.

Sevilla will head into the match against Getafe at home in La Liga on Sunday on the back of a 5-0 hammering of Linares Deportivo on the road in the Copa del Rey. It came after 1-1 draw with Celta de Vigo away from home and followed a 3-0 victory over Juventud Torremolinos on the road in the Copa del Rey.

Team News:

Tanguy Nianzou and Ivan Rakitic did not play for Sevilla against Celta Vigo in their last La Liga game due to suspension. Alex Telles, on loan from former Premier League and UEFA Champions League winners Manchester United at the moment, could feature. Thomas Delaney, Marcao and Jesus Manuel Corona should be in the squad, while Yassine Bounou and Youssef En-Nesyri should start for Sevilla.

Getafe

Getafe are a modest club in Spain who regularly feature in La Liga. No one expects them to do great things, and they generally tend to finish in a comfortable position in La Liga and stay in the league. The Azulones have finished 15th in the league table in the last two seasons, ended up eighth in La Liga in 2019-20 and finished fifth in the league in 2018-19. They clinched the eighth spot in the La Liga table in the 2017-18 on their return to the top flight after relegation the end of the 2015-16 campaign.

Just like in previous seasons, Getafe are doing relatively well in La Liga at the moment. Quique Sanchez Flores’s side are 14th in the La Liga table now with 17 points from 15 matches. They are five points above the relegation zone and 10 points off a UEFA Champions League spot.

Getafe will head into the match against Sevilla in La Liga this weekend on the back of a 3-2 defeat to Levante away from home in the Copa del Rey. It followed a 2-0 home win against Real Mallorca in the league and came after a 2-0 victory over Diocesano on the road in the Copa del Rey.

Team News:

Getafe should have a fully-fit squad for the La Liga game against Sevilla. Portu, Domingos Duarte and Gaston Alvarez all could feature, while Munir El Haddadi could start. Borja Mayoral could play alongside Enes Unal in attack.

Key Factors to Consider

  • Sevilla have scored 14 goals in 15 La Liga matches this season.
  • Getafe have scored 14 goals in 15 La Liga games this campaign.
  • Sevilla have conceded 23 goals in 15 La Liga matches this season.
  • Getafe have conceded 20 goals in 15 La Liga matches this campaign.
  • Sevilla have lost 3 of their last 5 La Liga games.

Conclusion

Getafe are doing better than Sevilla, but the the home team have better players, and it is very likely that they will eke out a narrow win.

Prediction: Sevilla to win 1-0

Best Odds: 4/1
