The Premier League is back once again this weekend as continue on through the always-crazy month of December. There are so many teams up and down the top flight who are in desperate need of some points on the board now that we’re in the midst of the busy winter schedule, mainly because momentum can be such a vital piece of the puzzle during this time of the year. Today, we’re going to be taking a look at what could be a defining game for two struggling teams: Sheffield United and Manchester United.
Sheffield United
There are problems that desperately need to be addressed by Chris Wilder at Bramall Lane and the man himself will be well aware of that, but the important thing to point out here is that they are technically only three or four wins away from edging towards 17th place. Picking up those results is easier said than done but with the January transfer window being right around the corner, one or two big signings could really help them to turn the tide.

McBurnie is a big doubt for this one after sustaining a shoulder injury against Southampton, whereas O’Connell is still out of action.
Manchester United
Nobody really knows what to expect from Manchester United on a week to week basis and we think the same is probably true of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. The Norwegian has a tendency to string together a few impressive wins before falling flat on his face, and this game offers them a chance to prove the doubters wrong. A victory here would take them to five wins in their last six PL games with no defeats, and it’d also vault them back into the top four discussion heading into Christmas.
Team News
Martial is set to replace Greenwood as he attempts to build on the hat-trick he scored against Sheffield United earlier this year, with the only doubt being the fitness of Cavani.
Factors to Consider
- In their last meeting back in June, Man United beat Sheff United 3-0.
- Sheff United have lost their last seven games in all competitions.
- Man United have won three, drawn one and lost two of their last six games.
- Sheff United have scored two goals and conceded 12 in their last six games.
- Man United have scored 13 goals and conceded 10 in their last six games.
Conclusion
Despite the fact that everyone is writing Sheffield United off before we’ve even hit 2021, we’re of the belief that they’re going to give Manchester United a really tough game here. It’s going to be quite back and forth with the Blades being desperate to get their first league win on the board, and we do think Ole’s men are going to feel the pressure of needing to beat a team that is in such clear disarray. We’re going to go with a 1-1 draw which, it’s safe to say, will anger more than a few Red Devil fans.
