Switzerland and Israel will face each other in the UEFA Euro 2024 qualifying Group I this week. The match between Murat Yakin’s side and Alon Hazan’s team will be held at Stade de Genève in Geneva and is scheduled to kick off at 7:45pm UK time on Tuesday.

Switzerland

Switzerland are starting to establish themselves as a major power in European football and have a very good team. They have players such as Gregor Kobel of Borussia Dortmund, Kevin Mbabu of Servette, Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka, Denis Zakaria of Chelsea and Yann Sommer of Bayern Munich who are brilliant and are big figures.

Murat Yakin’s side are at the top of UEFA Euro 2024 qualifying Group I at the moment. They kicked off their qualifying campaign with a 5-0 hammering of Belarus away from home. Renato Steffen scored a hat-trick.

Switzerland are the clear favourites in this group. Romano, Kosovo, Israel, Andorra and Belarus are the other teams in Group I, and it is very unlikely that any of them will challenge the Swiss for the top spot.

Team News:

Yann Sommer will start in goal. Renato Steffen will be included in the Switzerland starting lineup, and so will Xhaka.

Israel

Israel do not have much history in football and are essentially the minnows in the game. They do not tend to qualify for major competitions and are never really in the race to do so. Although they have a few well-known players, overall the team are not great and are not expected to do much of note in the UEFA Euro 2024 qualifying Group I.

Alon Hazan’s side kicked off their UEFA Euro 2024 qualifying Group I campaign with a 1-1 draw with Kosovo at Bloomfield Stadium in Tel Aviv. Dor Peretz scored the goal for Israel.

Israel are unlikely to challenge Switzerland for the top spot in Group I. Although Romano, Kosovo, Andorra and Belarus are the other teams in the group, they are unlike to even compete for the runners-up spot.

Team News:

Dor Peretz will start for Israel.

Key Factors to Consider

  • Switzerland have won 3 of their last 6 matches.
  • Switzerland have lost 3 of their last 6 matches.
  • Israel have won 3 of their last 6 games.
  • Israel have drawn 2 of their last 6 games.
  • Israel have lost 1 of their last 6 matches.

Conclusion

Israel are in better form than Switzerland, who have been inconsistent, but the Swiss are at home and also have a better team. It is very likely that Switzerland will win this match with ease.

Prediction: Switzerland to win 3-0
