Italian giants Juventus will face city rivals Torino on Saturday evening at the Olimpico di Torino, looking to extend their longstanding dominance in the Turin derby.

Ahead of their 183rd meeting since 1929, Juve remain unbeaten in Serie A this season and in their last 21 games against Torino.

Torino

Torino have managed just one victory in 36 encounters with Juventus since the start of the century, losing 27 times. Their lone triumph came in April 2015, when Matteo Darmian and Fabio Quagliarella scored for Torino, while Andrea Pirlo netted for Juve.

Under Paolo Vanoli, Torino started the campaign strongly but have struggled as autumn gave way to winter. They ended 2024 without a year-closing win for the eighth consecutive season and began 2025 with a goalless draw against struggling Parma.

With victories scarce, Vanoli faces mounting pressure, as Torino trail their midway point tally from last season by six points. They’ve recorded fewer at this stage only once in their last 11 Serie A campaigns. In their last 10 league games, Toro have scored just four goals and won only twice at home, making them clear underdogs for this Derby della Mole.

Team News

Torino are optimistic that Saul Coco and key midfielder Samuele Ricci will recover from injuries picked up against Parma.

Long-term absentees Perr Schuurs and Duvan Zapata remain sidelined, leaving underperforming forwards Che Adams, Yann Karamoh, and Antonio Sanabria to compete for spots in the attack.

Juventus

Juventus’ victory at the Allianz Stadium in November marked their 19th consecutive home game without losing to Torino, extending a record run in the Derby della Mole.

Though strong overall this season, Juve faced their second defeat—and first in domestic competition—in last week’s Supercoppa Italiana semi-finals. After surrendering a lead to AC Milan, Manuel Locatelli conceded a penalty, and Federico Gatti’s own goal sealed their exit from the tournament.

In Serie A, Thiago Motta’s side has endured mixed fortunes. Their latest 2-2 draw with Fiorentina saw the Viola equalize in the 87th minute, keeping Juve unbeaten in 18 league games but still trailing Italy’s top four near the midpoint of Motta’s debut campaign.

A loss to their city rivals is unthinkable, especially after Juve’s 2-0 victory in the reverse fixture, with goals from Timothy Weah and Kenan Yildiz. A derby double is the only acceptable outcome from the Bianconeri’s point of view.

Team News

Dusan Vlahovic (muscular) and Francisco Conceicao (thigh) remain doubtful for the Turin derby, as both have been training individually this week.

Juventus will also be without Manuel Locatelli, who is suspended, while long-term absentees Arkadiusz Milik, Bremer, and Juan Cabal remain unavailable. Additionally, Danilo appears set for a mid-season departure, so it remains to be seen if Motta will include him in the matchday squad.

Conclusion

Dominant in derby encounters, Juventus will likely secure another clean sheet against Torino’s struggling attack. The key may lie in breaking through early and then holding firm to secure all three points, but there’s very little doubt about the ability of Motta’s team to win.

Verdict: Away win
