The Premier League season is about to come to an end, with one more round of fixtures for us to enjoy. The game we’re going to be looking at today is Tottenham Hotspur vs Everton, and while the clubs involved are pretty interesting, the game itself probably won’t be. The Champions League final is on the horizon for Spurs, whereas Everton have done just about all they can do when it comes to their own ambitions and goals this season. The question is: what kind of line-ups are we going to see?
Tottenham
Despite seemingly being in a fairly handicapped spot from a transfers and injuries point of view, Tottenham have been able to put together a strong season. They’re on the verge of sealing a place in the top four of the Premier League, they’re in the Champions League final, and they’ve got a manager who genuinely loves the club. What more could you possibly ask for? They’ve got some work to do in order to keep improving in the summer, but let’s just allow their fans to enjoy the ride for now.
Team News
Son and Foyth will miss out through suspension, Winks and Sanchez are out through injury, with Serge Aurier being tipped to feature.
Everton
The expectation is that good things are coming to Goodison Park in the next few years, and for good reason. They’re planning on building a new stadium, they’ve got a solid manager, and they’ve got decent financial backing for the first time in a long time. Next season isn’t going to be a walk in the park by any stretch and they need to have a really impressive summer transfer window, but all of the pieces are certainly starting to fall into place.
Team News
Andre Gomes is available after completing his suspension, with Mina and Coleman both being set for an assessment prior to the game. Richarlison and Calvert-Lewin will miss out.
Factors to Consider
- In their last meeting back in December, Tottenham beat Everton 6-2.
- Tottenham have won two and lost four of their last six games.
- Everton have won four, drawn one and lost one of their last six games.
- Tottenham have scored four goals and conceded six in their last six games.
- Everton have scored nine goals and conceded two in their last six games.
Conclusion
Tottenham are already going to be focusing most of their attention on the Champions League final, but that lingering worry of Arsenal pulling off the miracle (mathematically) will still worry them just a little bit. Everton are by far the more in-form side, but we think Spurs are just going to play for the draw here regardless of what team they put out. It isn’t going to be the prettiest of games you’ve ever seen and we may not even get any goals, but Tottenham will be able to confirm a place in the top four which is all that really matters.
