The Premier League returns this weekend as we get closer and closer towards the end of the domestic season. Some fans may be upset about that, but there are always positives to consider: and in this instance, the main positive is that there are a bunch of really entertaining and important games to come in the next month or so. One of those games is Tottenham Hotspur vs Huddersfield Town, in a game that means a whole lot more to one team than it does to the other.
Tottenham
Tottenham are still competing on two fronts this season, in the Premier League and the Champions League. They’re very much the underdogs in the latter of those two competitions, but in the Premier League, they should be confident in their ability to finish in the top four. They’ve got a few injury concerns that could lead to some problems further down the line, but in a game like this, they need to be registering an emphatic win in order to really send a message to their closest rivals.
Team News
Dele Alli is set to be assessed prior to the game with Dier and Aurier both ruled out. The biggest loss, though, is Harry Kane – who looks set to miss the rest of the season with a bad ankle injury.
Huddersfield
Huddersfield have already been relegated to the Championship, and now, they’ll be starting preparations for next season as they attempt to bounce straight back up into the Premier League. They had a solid enough run in the top flight during their first season, but there’s no way of getting around the disappointment of their tenure this time around. They will want to accumulate as many points as they can in their next few games, but to be perfectly honest, it isn’t going to mean all that much.
Team News
Diakhaby and Sabiri are both set to miss out for the visitors, with Duhaney, Depoitre and Billing all being assessed prior to kick off.
Factors to Consider
- Tottenham won their last meeting against Huddersfield 2-0 back in September.
- Tottenham have won three, drawn one and lost two of their last six games.
- Huddersfield have won one and lost five of their last six games.
- Tottenham have scored seven goals and conceded five in their last six games.
- Huddersfield have scored five goals and conceded 13 in their last six games.
Conclusion
Huddersfield don’t really have anything to lose now between this game and the end of the season, but in the same manner, they also don’t really have anything to gain. We think they’re going to receive a bit of a beating from Tottenham here, who will be riding high from the momentum of their win over Manchester City. They’ll probably score early in the first half before sitting back and inviting the pressure from the Terriers, before coasting to victory with a few more goals in the second half.
