The Premier League is back once again this weekend as continue on through the always-crazy month of December. There are so many teams up and down the top flight who are in desperate need of some points on the board now that we’re in the midst of the busy winter schedule, mainly because momentum can be such a vital piece of the puzzle during this time of the year. Today, we’re going to be taking a look at what could and should be a great game between two of the PL’s finest: Tottenham Hotspur and Leicester City.

Tottenham

Tottenham Hotspur fans may not necessarily enjoy every element of Jose Mourinho’s managerial style, but they simply have to appreciate the results that he has been able to get for this team. They’re in a position now whereby it’s plausible to think they’re in with a chance of winning a few pieces of silverware this season, and while the main trophy they want is the Premier League, even winning the Europa League, Carabao Cup or FA Cup would do wonders for their confidence.

Team News

Bale is still a doubt for Spurs through an illness with Lamela and Tanganga ruled out through injury, and aside from that, Mourinho is tipped to make some changes after the Liverpool loss.

Leicester

The inconsistency of Leicester City is frustrating for their fans to see, but on the plus side, they seem to have established themselves as a club who will regularly be in the mix for European qualification. That’s a big step forward for them to take and even though they aren’t explicitly considered to be part of the top six, they could start to creep their way into that conversation if they can continue to finish towards the top of the table in the next few seasons.

Team News

Evans will return from his one-match suspension to feature in the starting XI in North London. Elsewhere, Castagne and Soyuncu are both fitness doubts with Pereira and Amartey being ruled out through injury.

Factors to Consider

  • In their last meeting back in July, Tottenham beat Leicester 3-0.
  • Tottenham have won two, drawn three and lost one of their last six games.
  • Leicester have won three and lost three of their last six games.
  • Tottenham have scored nine goals and conceded six in their last six games.
  • Leicester have scored eight goals and conceded six in their last six games.

Conclusion

It’s going to be a tough game for both teams to navigate as they’ve both had their fair share of setbacks as of late, but we’re actually going to back Tottenham to make a successful resurgence following the defeat to Liverpool earlier in the week. Jose Mourinho will be letting his players know that they have what it takes to still make a push for the title this season, and in doing so, they should be able to grind out a win against a Foxes side who have lost to far worse opposition in recent months.

Prediction: Tottenham win
