As we move through the month of April there are still plenty of things left to be determined in English football’s top tier from the title picture to the relegation battle and beyond. Many fans feel as if they know the direction of travel with some choosing to look ahead to the Euros already, but before we get to all of that, there’s still a great deal of intrigue behind some of the remaining fixtures – and that includes Tottenham Hotspur vs Manchester United.
Tottenham
The wheels have been coming off of the Spurs train for quite some time now and the hope from their fans is that they don’t drop even further in the weeks and months to come. Tottenham are a shadow of the team they were a few years ago and with questions being asked of their biggest stars, it does make you wonder if they’re about to head into a transition period. If so, they need to do everything they can to secure European football next season.
Team News
Alderweireld and Aurier will both be assessed before the game due to ongoing fitness issues. Elsewhere, the only two players who have been officially ruled out through injury are Doherty and Davies.
Manchester United
The Ole Gunnar Solskjaer movement has been a turbulent one, but finally, the club seems to be coming into a period of stability. Whether or not we’ve just misread the signs on that one remains to be seen but between the Europa League and their comfortable position in the Premier League, it’s hard for fans not to be excited about what’s to come. Yes, there are still questions as to whether or not Ole should be the one leading them, but that’s a debate for another day.
Team News
Bailly tested positive for COVID-19 last week and will therefore miss out on the game as a result. Ole is expected to name the same starting XI to the one that beat Brighton with Martial and Jones both being injured.
Factors to Consider
- In their last meeting back in October, Tottenham beat Man United 6-1.
- Tottenham have won three, drawn one and lost two of their last six games.
- Man United have won four, drawn one and lost one of their last six games.
- Tottenham have scored 11 goals and conceded eight in their last six games.
- Man United have scored eight goals and conceded five in their last six games.
We’re expecting this to be the definition of a tense game with both teams attempting to work each other out – leaving fans without a whole lot to scream and shout about. United don’t have quite as much to lose in comparison to Spurs, and you’d think that would encourage Tottenham to really go after Ole’s men. Alas, we don’t think that’ll happen, and we actually think the Red Devils will be the ones to come away with a narrow 1-0 victory. Prediction: Man United win Best Odds: 7/5 Bookmaker: 888sport
