The UEFA Europa Conference League has been viewed as a necessary evil by some and a way for clubs to really push forward and achieve something in Europe by others. Regardless of which camp you fall into there’s no way of denying that there are some decent clubs still competing at this level, and Tottenham Hotspur are one of them. Tomorrow night, they’ll be out for revenge when they lock horns with Dutch side Vitesse.

Tottenham

The Nuno Espirito Santo era is officially over and in its place, the Antonio Conte reign can begin. This is the kind of appointment many fans would’ve expected, and somewhat hoped for, at the start of the campaign – and there can be no more excuses this time around. There’s going to be a lot of folks who see the name Conte and anticipate a very successful run, and they’re not wrong to fall into this line of thinking.

Vitesse

Vitesse secured one of the biggest wins in their recent history just a few weeks ago when they beat Tottenham Hotspur in the reverse fixture. They fought hard and battled for every second of those 90 minutes and if they want lightning to strike twice, they’ll have to pull off something very similar. They’re known for being on the outside looking in at the Dutch title picture but if they want to make some waves away from the domestic game, getting something in North London would be a great way to do it.

Factors to Consider

  • Tottenham are 3rd in Group G whereas Vitesse are 2nd.
  • Tottenham have won one, drawn one and lost one in the UECL.
  • Vitesse have won two and lost one in the UECL.
  • Tottenham have scored seven goals and conceded four in the UECL.
  • Vitesse have scored four goals and conceded two in the UECL.

Conclusion

The “hype factor” surrounding a new manager is bound to get fans excited for this one and while they may not put on a clinic, we do expect to see a far stronger starting XI than we’ve been used to from them in this competition. We think it’ll be an intriguing but nervy test given how things went in the reverse fixture but in the end, securing the win and all three points is what matters above all else – and Spurs will do that with a 2-0 victory.
