The Premier League is back and with around 15 games remaining, it’s starting to get a little bit more serious. The sides who are going to be battling it out at the top and the bottom of the table are starting to become much clearer, with two of the sides located towards the top being Tottenham Hotspur and Watford. The London clubs have had strong campaigns thus far by their own standards but there’s still a long way to go, and this game could wind up being fairly crucial.
Tottenham
Being knocked out of both domestic cups in a matter of days is always going to be a hard pill to swallow. For Spurs, though, it seems as if there’s even more pressure on their shoulders than ever before. Questions continue to pile in regarding the future of Mauricio Pochettino, and with the injuries starting to pile up, many are wondering whether we’re going to see a traditional Spurs collapse. Alas, while that may be on the cards, they’ve still got plenty of game winners within their ranks.
Team News
Son could make his return in this one after returning from international duty. Kane, Alli and Davies are all still out, with Moussa Sissoko’s fitness likely being a game day decision due to a knee injury.
Watford
Watford are starting to begin the transition from a plucky team into one that’s just downright good. They’re putting the necessary pieces in place to build themselves up as a consistent top half force, and that can only be a good thing for the division. There are still holes they need to fill but that’ll come in time, with Javi Gracia leading the charge. They’ll be not so quietly confident of picking up a big result in this one, too, especially if they can implement their attacking style on the game.
Team News
Janmaat could start in this one, with Prodl and Femenia both being ruled out. Doucoure will be assessed prior to the game due to a knee problem.
Factors to Consider
- The game will be played at Wembley Stadium.
- Tottenham have won three and lost three of their last six games.
- Watford have won three and drawn three of their last six games.
- Tottenham have scored 11 goals and conceded six in their last six games.
- Watford have scored 10 goals and conceded five in their last six games.
Conclusion
Tottenham know that they need to be composed and not do anything silly here, and yet, we think they’re going to come out swinging against Watford. The Hornets are a strong and organised side and we do believe they’ll score in this one, but they won’t have enough to get past Spurs. They’ll be able to move the ball around in the middle of the park and create openings, regardless of who they’ve got up top. Tottenham will get back to winning ways here, and we’re pretty confident in saying that.
