The Premier League is back this weekend with a series of important games, with the end of the season being just around the corner. The game that we’re going to be looking at today will be contested between Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United, who have been known to have a problem or two with one another over the years. Still, even with that burning hatred between the two sets of supporters they’ve still been able to churn out some absolute classics over the years – and we’re hoping for much of the same here.

Tottenham

Spurs are firing on all cylinders despite missing a few key players at this late stage of the season, as Mauricio Pochettino continues to make his case for ‘most underrated PL manager of the season’. They’ve got a Champions League semi-final tie against Dutch giants Ajax to look forward to, but in the Premier League, they’ve also got some work to do in order to secure a place in the top four. It isn’t exactly going to be easy, but they don’t have the hardest run-in in the world.

Team News

Aurier, Kane and Sissoko are the big absences for Spurs, with Lamela and Winks being set for an assessment prior to the game.

West Ham

A few weeks ago it seemed like West Ham United could be in the hunt for a place in the Europa League, but after a series of poor results as of late, they’ve fallen out of contention. Even with that being the case it feels like this has been a pretty strong season for the Hammers, as Manuel Pellegrini continues to try and guide this club towards better times. They’ve got the infrastructure in place to make some real noise next season, and the next few games are all about pride before the summer break.

Team News

Wilshere will hope to feature after returning against Arsenal with Hernandez, Cresswell and Nasri all being assessed before kick off.

Factors to Consider

  • Tottenham beat West Ham twice in 11 days back in October.
  • Tottenham have won four and lost two of their last six games.
  • West Ham have won one, drawn one and lost four of their last six games.
  • Tottenham have scored 11 goals and conceded five in their last six games.
  • West Ham have scored seven goals and conceded 13 in their last six games.

Conclusion

It certainly feels like this is Tottenham’s game to lose, especially when you analyse the form between both clubs. Of course, Spurs have been known to leave it late and worry their fans in the past, but we can’t see that being too much of a problem for them here. The Hammers already seem like they’re on their holidays and with their chance of qualifying for the Europa League being all but over, we think they’ll struggle to break down Spurs – or even get hyped up enough to give them a real challenge.

Prediction: Tottenham win

Best Odds: 13/8
