The Premier League is back this weekend with a whole host of fixtures as we continue to march towards the end of the campaign. We’re into the final 10-game stretch now and at both ends of the table, there’s still a whole lot to be resolved in what should be a crazy few months. Today, we’ll be taking a look at a clash between two clubs in desperate need of a big result as Wolves prepare to host Chelsea at Molineux.

Wolves

Wolverhampton Wanderers have the kind of squad that should be competing at the opposite end of the table. Instead, they are in the midst of a relegation battle, which isn’t what many would’ve pictured back in August. Julen Lopetegui is a world class coach but he’s still trying to find the best formation and style that suits this squad, and given how many games are left, he needs to figure it out pretty quickly.

Team News

Kalajdzic and Chiquinho are still injured for this one, Hwang and B.Traore are fitness concerns and Jonny & Neves are both suspended.

Chelsea

Graham Potter is gone and now, the rumour mill is suggesting that Frank Lampard will be taking over as caretaker manager until the end of the season. It’s the kind of news that nightmares are made of for Blues fans and in many ways, they probably just want to hear the final whistle on the final day and be done with it. Alas, if they want any kind of European football, they need to get to work.

Team News

Aubameyang is still listed as doubtful to appear here whereas Silva, Azpilicueta and Broja are all out through injury.

Factors to Consider

  • In their last meeting back in October, Chelsea beat Wolves 3-0.
  • Wolves have won one, drawn two and lost three of their last six games.
  • Chelsea have won three, drawn two and lost one of their last six games.
  • Wolves have scored six goals and conceded 10 in their last six games.
  • Chelsea have scored eight goals and conceded five in their last six games.

Conclusion

While their recent run of form doesn’t look terrible when simply analysing the numbers, Chelsea are still struggling to find their identity. The same, in many ways, can be said for Wolves, with the boys from the Black Country not really finding much consistency as of late. We think it’s going to be a tight game through the first hour or so but ultimately, the ‘manager departure bounce’ will lead to the Blues earning a 2-0 win.

Prediction: Chelsea win
