While we saw a lot of drama throughout the course of Saturday’s fixtures in the Premier League, the Sunday line-up looks set to be just as juicy with six teams being in action in the top flight. Two of those sides will compete at Molineux as Wolverhampton Wanderers prepare to host Norwich City. Wolves are still in the running for a place in the Champions League, whereas Norwich will be lucky if they aren’t mathematically relegated by the time May rolls around.
Wolves
Nuno Espirito Santo’s men are fresh off of a huge win in the Europa League against Espanyol which, logically speaking, should set them up for a big performance here. They’ve been able to defy any and all expectations put in their way from the start of campaign, balancing league and European football pretty well since the summer. Now, they just need to focus on taking advantage when teams around them drop points – especially now that fifth place could make their way into the UCL.
Team News
Vinagre is still the only injury concern for Wolves with Nuno not being expected to make all too many changes to the starting XI after Thursday night, maintaining the status quo as the Midlanders continue to thrive despite having a pretty small squad.
Norwich
It’s crunch time for Norwich City who need to start picking up wins and fast. If they’re beaten decisively on Sunday then it could go a long way towards knocking their confidence in this relegation battle, but with teams around them struggling, they need to start believing that the Great Escape is possible. It’s going to be a slog at times, but they don’t really have all that much to lose at this stage.
Team News
Klose is out of action with Byram being a doubt after the hamstring injury he picked up against Liverpool. Hanley and Zimmermann are expected to keep their respective places in the starting line-up, keeping out Godfrey in the process.
Factors to Consider
- In their last meeting back in December, Wolves beat Norwich 2-1.
- Wolves have won two, drawn two and lost two of their last six games.
- Norwich have won two, drawn one and lost three of their last six games.
- Wolves have scored eight goals and conceded five in their last six games.
- Norwich have scored four goals and conceded eight in their last six games.
Conclusion
Wolves have typically struggled to beat teams down in the relegation battle, and we do think they’ll struggle to kill Norwich off here. However, if they can control the Canaries in the middle of the park, that’ll take them a huge step closer towards picking up the three points. We think Wolves will dictate the pace of the game and while they almost certainly won’t blow Norwich out of the water in terms of the scoreline, we are going to predict that they come away from Molineux with a narrow win.
