Premier League 2022/23 Early Title Odds – The Pre-Season Contenders

With the start of the 2022/23 Premier League campaign just around the corner, many are expecting what could be another thrilling title chase from England’s top-flight.

Watching Manchester City eventually recapture their domestic crown last season after holding off Liverpool thanks to a one-point buffer, England’s heavyweights have been quick to add to their ranks this summer.

Already watching both Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp break the bank since the transfer window opened up, teams from up and down the country will be looking to put their final plans together.

So, with less than a month until the 2022/23 campaign gets underway, we have taken a look at who the bookmakers have tipped as the Premier League’s pre-season title chasers.

Mounting that stunning comeback against Aston Villa on the final weekend as they grabbed a famous 3-2 win at the Etihad, Manchester City find themselves tipped as the leading contender to defend their status this time around.

Enjoying what has become quite the era of dominance since Guardiola’s arrival in Manchester six years ago, the Sky Blues have now been crowned Premier League champions in four of the last five campaigns.

Already boasting an all-star squad of European superstars, there is no doubt that fans around the Etihad were given a huge boost last month when it was announced that Erling Haaland had completed his switch from Borussia Dortmund.

Triggering the 21-year-old’s £51.5million release clause with the German giants, the free-scoring Norweigan ace has only continued to break a host of records during his two season stay at Dortmund.

Opening up the 2022/23 campaign with a trip to European contenders West Ham on August 7th, Guardiola’s defending champions stand clear as the bookies’ favourite.

Liverpool – 2/1 Betfair

Falling just a single point adrift of Manchester City last season as they watched the Sky Blues snatch away their Premier League crown, Liverpool will be seeking an immediate response.

Managing to claim their first top-flight crown in three decades during the 2020/21 season, Jurgen Klopp’s men have established themselves as one of the best club sides from across Europe.

Falling at the final hurdle back in May as they watched Real Madrid lift the Champions League trophy thanks to a 2-1 win in Paris, the Reds will be desperate to go one step further this time around.

While fans around Anfield might have been left heartbroken to have seen Sadio Mane make the move to Bayern Munich this summer, Klopp’s side have been busy themselves.

Along with breaking the bank as they welcomed Benfica starlet Darwin Nunez in a deal that could reach €100million, Liverpool also announced that talisman Mohamed Salah has finally put pen to paper on a new deal.

Tottenham – 14/1 Unibet

While Tottenham might have once again failed to lift a piece of silverware last season, it appears that the mood around the white half of north London is at the highest it has been in recent memory.

Really enjoying life under Antonio Conte since the one-time Chelsea boss took charge back in November, Spurs also have a Champions League return on the horizon.

Managing to book a top-four return at the expense of bitter rivals Arsenal, Tottenham have already enjoyed quite the summer when it comes to new arrivals.

Along with it looking like Harry Kane could sign a contract extension at some point, Spurs have already five new additions so far this summer.

Welcoming the likes of Richarlison, Yves Bissouma, Ivan Perisic, Clément Lenglet and Fraser Forster to their ranks, Tottenham could be smelling the chance to spring some kind of upset in the capital next season.

Despite not lifting a piece of silverware since way back in 2008, the bookies have installed Conte’s side as the most likely side to challenge England’s top-two.

Chelsea – 16/1 Unibet

After opening last season’s Premier League campaign with many tipping them to real battle it out with Manchester City and Liverpool in the title chase, Chelsea would have been disappointed to have fallen away.

While Thomas Tuchel’s men might have managed to clinch another top-four finish in west London, they eventually finished 19 points adrift of the Sky Blues and someway off mounting their own charge.

Watching the likes of Romelu Lukaku, Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen all make the move away from Stamford Bridge this summer, it appears a new era is underway for Chelsea.

With it finally announced back in May that American business Todd Boehly will be the new man leading things in west London, the Blues will be hoping to lay down more of a marker come August.

Announcing the arrival of England international Raheem Sterling on Tuesday, Tuchel could have more scrutiny come his way next season if he is unable to close the gap between City and Liverpool.
