Premier League clubs chase Russia striker

Russia striker Pavel Pogrebnyak is wanted by Premier League trio Fulham, Aston Villa and Reading according to the Daily Mail.

The 28-year-old was on loan at Fulham last season and impressed many with six goals in 12 games for the Craven Cottage club.

He also put in the performances that convinced Fulham boss Martin Jol that he would look to make the loan move permanent.

The form Pavel Pogrebnyak showed didn’t go unnoticed elsewhere though, hence Villa and Reading’s interest.

Villa are of course looking to build their squad under new manager Paul Lambert, while Reading are getting ready for a season in the Premier League.

Therefore, they could both do with  a striker who knows where the back of the net is and Pogrebnyak – who has scored 66 goals in 134 games during his career – appears to fit the bill.

With three clubs interested, it certainly seems likely that he will end up in England for the start of the 2012/2013 Premier League season.

Speaking about his future recently, he said: “After three or four months, I feel that I have found my place in England and I want to play in this league.”

The Stuttgart forward may be able to make his decision sooner than expected too. Russia were knocked out of Euro 2012 at the weekend, meaning he will travel home before clarifying his future.

Will it be Fulham, Reading or Aston Villa for Pogrebnyak?

We will keep you posted.
