Graeme Souness, who played for Tottenham Hotspur, Middlesbrough and Liverpool, and managed Liverpool, Southampton, Blackburn Rovers and Newcastle United, admits his generation was ‘extremely homophobic’, and he claims that to this day, an environment hasn’t been created in Premier League football for gay players to be open about it.
He also says going to Brighton Pride changed his perception on the matter completely.
