Premier League: Liverpool 3 West Ham 0

Woeful West Ham remain rooted to the bottom of the table after a meek 3-0 surrender against Liverpool in the English Premier League on Saturday.

The match was over by half-time as strikes from Glen Johnson, Dirk Kuyt and Maxi Rodriguez sealed an easy win for Roy Hodgson’s side.

The Hammers went to Anfield in search of their first win there for 47 years, but they never looked like getting anything as Liverpool bounced back from last Saturday’s 2-0 defeat at Stoke.

Avram Grant remains under pressure as West Ham manager and the manner of this defeat will undoubtedly disappoint co-owners David Gold and David Sullivan.

Former West Ham defender Johnson opened the scoring on 18 minutes after being given far too much space inside the area. Johnson had time to chest down Raul Meireles’ corner and he smashed home to leave Robert Green with no chance.

The visiting side then fell further behind 10 minutes later when Danny Gabbidon handled in the area, leaving Kuyt with the easiest of tasks to finish from the penalty spot.

Maxi got in on the act on 37 minutes when he nodded home Paul Konchesky’s cross, leaving Grant’s men with a mountain to climb.

The lack of fight would have alarmed Grant, with his side are four points from safety. The fact that hordes of West Ham fans deserted Anfield at half-time told you everything you need to know about their faith in his side.

Fernando Torres cracked the crossbar after the break and Fabio Aurelio went close, but Liverpool had done enough to close out the game without any worry.

For West Ham, relegation beckons unless Grant can miraculously instill some belief back in his side – if he can hold on to his job.
