Premier League predictions – Chelsea to give City a reality check?

Reality check?

Reality check?

Saturday 27th February

  • Birmingham v Wigan
  • This is a game between two teams who may have been expecting to be fairly close together, probably fighting against relegation.

Wigan are only two points above the drop zone and when I have watched them recently they have been pretty dire. They might just about stay up as it is possible that there are three teams worse than them, but there are not too many more than three.

On the other hand, Birmingham are sitting pretty in tenth place some twelve points clear of Wigan. They may be slightly concerned that their excellent run has come to an abrupt halt with defeats against West Ham and Fulham, but they are still much better off than they would have expected. I expect them to get back to winning ways here.

    SoccerNews prediction: 2-0

  • Bolton v Wolves
  • This is a game between two pretty poor teams. Bolton haven’t really had a honeymoon period under Owen Coyle and if he wasn’t sure of the enormous task he had when he took on the job, he certainly is now.

Wolves keep doing just enough to stay a point clear of the drop zone and they have the occasional great result like their two wins over Tottenham.

I can’t really side either side scoring to be honest.

    SoccerNews prediction: 0-0

  • Burnley v Portsmouth
  • Talking of games between two poor sides…

Burnley haven’t exactly gone from strength to strength under Brian Laws and they are deep in trouble. They will never have a better chance of winning a game than this and if they don’t, they will probably be doomed.

Pompey have finally gone into administration and the nine point penalty puts them seventeen points adrift of safety and certain relegation if they manage to survive as a club. It doesn’t get much more bleak than that.

    SoccerNews prediction: 2-1

  • Chelsea v Manchester City
  • This is a real test of Manchester City’s credentials as a genuine top four challenger. They have stuttered recently and it is beginning to look as though Mancini will be no more successful than Mark Hughes was.

Chelsea march on and despite their defeat to Inter the other night they will be full of confidence. I have a feeling that they may provide something of a reality check for all at the City of Manchester Stadium.

    SoccerNews prediction: 2-0

  • Stoke v Arsenal
  • Oh how Arsene Wenger and his players love playing against Stoke! The football that Stoke play seems to rile Wenger beyond belief. That is for two reasons. Firstly, it is not the pretty pass and move football that Wenger so admires and secondly, his team really struggle to cope with it.

Expect Stoke to throw absolutely everything they have got at Arsenal and give them a torrid time. Arsenal’s class will probably just about be enough to see them through, but they won’t enjoy it.

    SoccerNews prediction: 1-2

    Sunday 28th February

  • Liverpool v Blackburn
  • A few weeks ago this would have been a game between a good team in bad form and a bad team in bad form. It has changed slightly as both teams have got better. Liverpool are back in the hunt for fourth place and Blackburn have climbed to safety.

All things being equal, I expect Liverpool to take the points.

    SoccerNews prediction: 2-0

  • Sunderland v Fulham
  • Sunderland’s slide down the table has been alarming. They are now just three points above the drop zone and they are in a genuine relegation battle.

Fulham are amazing. They continue to defy logic both in the league and in Europe. They are tight at the back and in Bobby Zamora they have a striker in the form of his life. They will be looking at Sunderland and thinking that an early goal will be enough to see them off as they are so low on confidence. I expect them to get it.

    SoccerNews prediction: 0-1

  • Tottenham v Everton
  • I guess this is just about a fourth placed battle. Tottenham are currently holding that position whilst Everton have climbed up to eighth place, although they are some seven points behind.

Tottenham have scored seven without reply in their last two outings whilst Everton will be looking to bounce back from European disappointment.

Everton are a tough nut to crack but I think Tottenham will eventually manage to do it.

    SoccerNews prediction: 1-0

Yeah, but even if the U.S. loses, it’ll be closer than what it would’ve been against, say, Italy or Brazil. And our squad for Wednesday is based around players from European clubs. the orange defense will have a helluvah time handling Donovan.

As for Villa, you prolly have already heard of this joke, but I’ll say it anyway. . .

Q: What happens when villa’s oppponents cross the half field line?

      A: They score.

not lol but kinda funny, especially if you get why they made that joke.

      ^^ Yup !

Think of the hit to Chelsea’s morale, especially with big games coming up – they are looking far from “invincible”

& to tell you guys ! We are in for a treat ! The 3 horse title race is getting really exciting only 1 pt between MUFC & CFC in addition to only 2 pts between MUFC & Arsenal. It is getting dangerously close!

But did you see the injury that Ramsey picked up! It really bugged me out, a sorrow scene indeed. I mean his leg was just hanging there 🙁 feel sorry for the lad. Even showcross was crying ! I was really shocked by the extent of the injury 🙁

In terms of the Carling Cup. Villa are surely a hard side to beat! They should give it their all to beat the Villians or were in for yet another cup dissapointment. Hope Rooney will find his form 2mrw.

i think that team USA will have a pretty hard match. I really think Netherlands will win, eventhough USA has a very good team.

I’m happy MCFC won for once, but i have to admit I didnt expect them to win, especially at Stamford Bridge. This is only, I think, the 3rd home loss Chelsea has suffered in, what, 115 or so games? it turns out the current league leaders get the reality check in their own house. ouch. . .

I’m actually feeling sorry for you, CFC Fan. . . really.

P.S. Hoping MUFC will win Carling Cup tomorrow, and the U.S. will get either a win or draw against Holland (somehow) Wednesday. . .

      CFC vs. MCFC:

-LOL so much for a reality check ! It just went the other way around !
-LOL did u see how Wayne Bridge stood up John Terry ! Akward ~
      ———————————————————————-

      Review:

-Craig Bellamy was just amazing. He was one of the huge driving forces of MC’s excellent counter attacks.

-Carlos Tevez went through a good match. Although he has scored 2 goals, 1 goal was from a penalty and the other was due largely to random luck. But, he was also behind MC’s massive counter attacking skills.

-Belleti was also a huge reason for Chelsea’s humiliating loss, but Bary was extra smart when he won that penalty. Overall, Chelsea’s defence was just awful in the second half. Did you see the huge gap between their mid-field and the Defence ?! That is not the Chelsea that I know and “hate” !

-John Terry was clearly affected by the drama between himself and Bridge. His defending efforts were terrible, and that would be a kind thing to say. He just couldnn’t handle Tevez.

-Carlo Ancelotti just didn’t do the math right. Why this unbelievable stress on the attack with little attention to his deffencive line ? This is exactly the type of error that gave MCFC the counter-attacking advantage. I guess he was going for the “Attacking is the best Defencive method” but really missed the escence – do not under any circumstance lose the ball that much !

-Given was without a doubt the man of the match. Did you see those world-class saves he pulled ? He is in my opinion right up there with Cech, VDS, & Myhill.

      __________________________________________________________________________

Overall: Chelsea really blew this one ! A bigger humiliation than ours at Goodison Park. I cant deny that I am simply flyiing from joy ! 😀 Glory Glory Man Utd !
