Premier League predictions – Great chance for Tottenham to get back to winning ways

Saturday 26th September

  • Birmingham v Bolton
  • Not really a battle of the giants this one. In fact, if you have some paint drying somewhere it may be more enjoyable to watch that!

Birmingham don’t score enough goals although they did manage a win at Hull last time out. Having said that, who hasn’t managed a win at Hull?

Bolton also won on their last league outing and I expect they’ll have just enough to grab a win.

    SoccerNews prediction: 0-1

  • Blackburn v Aston Villa
  • Despite Sam Allardyce’s organisational and coaching skills, Blackburn are starting to look as they may be in a bit of trouble.

Aston Villa had a terrible start at home to Wigan but haven’t looked back since. They still play an exciting brand of fast attacking football with quick forward players and they may well overwhelm Blackburn who look just a little bit short,

    SoccerNews prediction: 1-2

  • Fulham v Arsenal
  • Although Fulham are a pretty solid side their form has been a little bit worrying. Like many others, they just don’t score enough goals. They are not going to reach the heights of last season and they need to put together a run of results to avoid a season of struggle.

Arsenal are looking pretty good. High profile defeats at the two Manchester clubs haven’t hidden the fact that they are very nearly the real deal. They’ll be way too good for Fulham.

    SoccerNews prediction: 0-2

  • Liverpool v Hull
  • Around this time last year Hull had made a wonderful start to their first ever season in the top flight. They went to Anfield and, as I remember, took a two goal lead. Liverpool came back to pick up a point but Hull were on a roll.

Since then Hull have got on a very different sort of roll. Just two victories in 2009 tells a very sorry story.

Liverpool appear to have recovered from their surprisingly poor start that saw them lose two games. They don’t look at their best, but they look pretty close. There is every chance that they will absolutely hammer Hull in this one.

    SoccerNews prediction: 3-0

  • Portsmouth v Everton
  • What can you say about poor old Portsmouth? Well, they’re not very good are they? Everton haven’t been too good this season so far either. There is no doubt that Everton have real quality whilst there is also no doubt that Portsmouth haven’t. For that reason I can only see one result.

    SoccerNews prediction: 0-2

  • Stoke v Manchester United
  • Stoke are really good at home but Chelsea showed that they are beatable with good football. Not many teams play better football than United and everything suggests that they will manage to get a win. It won’t be easy, but I expect United to pick up a hard fought three points.

    SoccerNews prediction: 1-2

  • Tottenham v Burnley
  • Harry Redknapp’s men made a great start but successive defeats against Manchester United and Chelsea have somewhat put them back in their place and reminded them how far they still have to go.

Burnley are still in there fighting with the big boys, but look a lot better at home than they do away. They will battle and hassle and fight and try to play some football but Tottenham will be too strong.

    SoccerNews prediction: 2-0

  • Wigan v Chelsea
  • Wigan have shown flashes of being a good side this season but they have also shown flashes of looking like relegation candidates.

Chelsea have looked every bit the champions elect. They have won playing really well and they have won playing not so well. They are so solid and organised that it is hard to see teams like Wigan having any chance of getting anything from them.

    SoccerNews prediction: 0-3

    Sunday 27th September

  • Sunderland v Wolves
  • Steve Bruce is on the verge of turning Sunderland into a ‘top ten’ team. They lost last time out in the league but on the whole, they have looked like a decent outfit.

Wolves have had a couple of results but it is difficult to see anything other than a season of struggle ahead.

    SoccerNews prediction: 2-0

    Monday 28th September

  • Manchester City v West Ham
  • City have had some problems in their last two games but I dare not comment on them for fear of upsetting the City fans again! On the field they are playing some good stuff and despite getting a little bit battered by United in the second half last week, they were unlucky to come away with nothing.

West Ham are really inconsistent and sometimes look great and sometimes look nothing more than average at best. City will be too good.

    SoccerNews prediction: 2-0
