Premier League predictions – United, Chelsea and Liverpool to win. Arsenal to lose. Happy with that Patrick?

How did I do last week? I got four right again. Not brilliant, but not too bad. I reckon I might be getting better at this!

Saturday 22nd November 2008

  • Aston Villa v Manchester United
  • Aston Villa looked as though their season might be blowing up after defeats against Newcastle and Middlesbrough but they bounced back with a real ‘bang’ last week by winning comfortably at Arsenal.

Manchester United put five past a hapless Stoke team last Saturday and they seem to be in the mood. Will Ferdinand and Rooney make miraculous recoveries from the injury and illness that kept them out of the England game?

Villa have failed to beat Manchester United in a remarkable twenty-two league and cup matches, since a 3-0 triumph in the third round of the Worthington League Cup on 13 October 1999.

    SoccerNews prediction: 1-2

  • Chelsea v Newcastle
  • Chelsea had a couple of disappointing results against Liverpool and in Rome, but on the whole, they are absolutely flying.

Newcastle had a couple of decent results against Aston Villa and West Brom, but on the whole, they are still sinking.

Although Joe Kinnear’s men will show a lot more fight than they would have done before his arrival, Chelsea and the free scoring Anelka will be too much for them.

    SoccerNews prediction: 3-0

  • Liverpool v Fulham
  • Liverpool are flying high at the top of the league and they will have more fire power now that Torres played and scored for Spain in midweek.

Fulham have had a couple of home victories that has lifted the pressure down at Craven Cottage but they’ll do well to get anything today.

    SoccerNews prediction: 3-0

  • Manchester City v Arsenal
  • City are struggling a bit of late but they do look better at Eastlands than they do on their travels. Arsenal are a real enigma and you just can’t tell which Arsenal is going to turn up on any given day.

I get my Arsenal prediction wrong every week so for Patrick and all the other Arsenal fans out there I’ll go for a home win!

    SoccerNews prediction: 2-1

  • Middlesbrough v Bolton
  • Middlesbrough might be the surprise package of the season. Gareth Southgate has got them playing good football and they are picking up results.

Despite Bolton winning two of their last three games I still think they’ll struggle.

The home side are a little unpredictable and a lot depends on which version of Middlesbrough turn up on the day.

    SoccerNews prediction: 2-1

  • Portsmouth v Hull
  • Although Portsmouth are unbeaten in two, I get the feeling that Tony Adams will have to work very hard to prevent things crumbling at Fratton Park following Harry Redknapp’s departure.

Hull have been wonderful but three defeats and then a draw at home to Manchester City have started to derail their season a little. Another defeat here and they may need to start looking over their shoulders for the first time.

    SoccerNews prediction: 2-0

  • Stoke v West Brom
  • Stoke are battling away and look as though they might have half a chance of staying up.

West Brom are playing some good stuff and look as though they have no chance of staying up.

This would have been a Championship fixture last season and, let’s be honest, it may well be a Championship fixture next season as well.

    SoccerNews prediction: 1-1

    Sunday 23rd November 2008

  • Tottenham v Blackburn
  • Tottenham’s wonderful run under Harry Redknapp came to a shuddering halt at Fulham last week thanks to yet another personal horror show from the hapless (hopeless?!) goalkeeper Gomez.

Blackburn, meanwhile, have joined Tottenham in the bottom three.

It’ll be tough for the visitors but if they can provide a couple of crosses or have a couple of shots, who knows what Gomez might give them?

    SoccerNews prediction: 2-1

  • Sunderland v West Ham
  • Sunderland are in trouble. Their win at Blackburn eased the tension a little but they have only won two in ten.

West Ham are in trouble. Their draw with Portsmouth eased the tension a little but they have only won two in ten.

I think it’ll be two in eleven for both of them after tomorrow’s game.

    SoccerNews prediction: 1-1

    Monday 24th November 2008

  • Wigan v Everton
  • Wigan looked pretty good in their 2-2 draw at Newcastle last week and probably should have got more out of the game. They may well have done so if Emmerson Boyce hadn’t been wrongly red carded. Of course, he is ridiculously suspended from this game.

Everton are playing with no fluency, but unbeaten in four shows a marked improvement. They haven’t been particularly impressive in any of their 1-0 wins and apart from on a few isolated occasions they didn’t produce much in last week’s draw with Middlesbrough.

I think I’ll sit on the fence in this one.

    SoccerNews prediction: 1-1

Wow. Our season is down the shitter. 3-0 to Man City? Not good enough to challenge for the title. Fingers crossed top 4 this year, maybe a Carling Cup and if we’re really, really lucky the FA cup.

Well, Graham, looks like you got this one right, and you’re 100% correct that you never can tell which Arsenal will show up. Trouble is, the real Arsenal shows up less and less these days, coupled with the strife in the locker room, our season is over unless Wenger does a complete 180 and spends like he works for Chelski in January.

Hi, after looking miserably Arsenal loose at home to Villa. Iam sure Arsenal cannot afford to loose today and i m sure they are going for nothing other than win.
