Premier League preview: Blackburn v Wolves

Wolves will need to be on their toes on Saturday against a Blackburn side desperate to atone for their 7-1 thrashing by Manchester United last weekend.

Saturday’s trouncing saw Rovers slip to 13th spot on the English Premier League standings with 18 points from their 15 games, and Sam Allardyce’s men are sure to have had their pride pricked by such a dismal display.

Wolves are not enjoying the best of form themselves of late and are entrenched in the relegation zone on 12 points, level with bottom-placed West Ham.

Their most recent outing would have pleased boss Mick McCarthy, however, when they came from 2-1 down to record a 3-2 win over Sunderland at Molineux.

History does not point to it being a successful expedition for McCarthy’s men – with Wolves winless in their last 10 away games in the Premier League and having lost their past six away from home.

McCarthy does have some injury concerns ahead of the encounter, with Karl Henry and Dave Edwards still missing along with long-term victim Jody Craddock, although they will welcome back Christophe Berra from suspension.

The news at Ewood Park on the injury front could possibly be even worse, with Vince Grella, Keith Andrews, Steven Nzonzi, Martin Olsson, Morten Gamst Pedersen, Nikola Kalinic and Gael Givet all missing from their loss to Manchester United.

Of those seven players, the most likely to return could be Pedersen who looks to have shaken off his hamstring problem in time of the Wolves clash.
