Manchester City will be looking to bounce back from their Champions League disappointment when they face Swansea on Saturday.
Roberto’s Mancini’s men lost 3-1 to Ajax on Wednesday and sit last in Group D and appear unlikely to progress with second-placed Real Madrid five points ahead of them.
City have won their past three English Premier League games including a 3-0 defeat of Sunderland and a 2-1 win over Fulham.
Edin Dzeko netted two late goals in the side’s most recent victory against West Bromwich Albion – the striker equalised in the 80th minute and scored the winner with a strike in injury time.
David Silva had hoped to return from a hamstring injury for the match against Swansea at Etihad Stadium but after missing City’s game against Ajax has been sent to Spain for treatment, ruling him out of Sunday’s encounter.
City are undefeated in the league this season and sit third, but three draws this campaign have left them behind Chelsea and Manchester United.
Their loss to Ajax was the club’s first since they were defeated 4-2 in a League Cup match against Aston Villa in September.
With Manchester United and Chelsea doing battle on Sunday, big-spending City will be eager to ensure they collect three points against 10th-placed Swansea.
Swansea enter the clash in winning form with a 2-1 defeat of Wigan Athletic last time out coming after a 2-2 draw at home to Reading.
Michael Laudrup’s side have shown they can easily overcome weaker opposition this season with strong wins over West Ham and Queens Park Rangers.
Swansea defeated West Ham 3-0 and QPR 5-0 in August as star signing Michu started the campaign in style.
The Spaniard has netted six league goals since joining Swansea from Rayo Vallecano to be equal top of the goalscoring charts.
Despite sitting 10th, an unlikely win for Swansea would see them maintain pace with the top four, with Everton just four points ahead of them.
City lost to Swansea when they met in March and another defeat would be a huge blow to their title ambitions.
