New signing Edin Dzeko looks certain to debut for Manchester City when they host Wolverhampton on Saturday in the English Premier League.

The Bosnian striker will likely line up alongside City captain Carlos Tevez as the team look to consolidate their spot in the league’s top two with a win over the struggling Wolves.

“Dzeko will be an important player, he is very different from the other strikers we have. He will be important for the rest of the season. He will play next weekend and be available against Wolverhampton,” coach Roberto Mancini said this week.

The signing could not have come at a better time for Mancini, with news that goal sneak Mario Balotelli will miss a month of football with a knee problem.

Wolves escaped the relegation zone last start with a 1-0 triumph over Chelsea, and need to keep winning games to ensure they do not slip back into the bottom three, according to midfielder Nenad Milijas.

“It’s so close – we know we can play a great game, lose and be bottom of the table. We know we must take points from the games – points are most important and that’s what we’re trying to do. The players, the team and the gaffer don’t deserve to go out of this division,” Milijas said.

“We’re much better than last season – players signed for this season have improved the squad and we’ve all learned a lot from last year. I think we deserve to stay up, but we just need to show to everyone in our results.”

“On Saturday we played against a good footballing team who tried to pass the ball. To avoid defeat – especially away from home – is good for us because we remained unbeaten and we have another chance. Now we must think about the Man City game and try to take points from that one.”

Left-back George Elokobi is unavailable due to suspension, while Joey Craddock and Karl Henry are fit to play for Wolves after playing in a midweek friendly against Leicester in their recovery from injury.
