Matchday seven in the Premier League kicks off with a meeting between two sides who had contrasting fortunes in the EFL Cup midweek and West Ham United welcome Manchester United to the London Stadium.
West Ham put eight past League Two basement boys Macclesfield Town while Jose Mourinho’s side crashed out on penalties to Championship promotion hopefuls Derby County.
Having taken four points from their last two games the Hammers side just outside the relegation zone while a return to winning ways for the Red Devils will see them move level on points with fourth place Watford.
Heavyweight
The most mouth-watering clash of the weekend takes place at Stamford Bridge as Chelsea face Liverpool for the second time in four days.
It was the Blues who ran out winners in their EFL Cup Third Round clash on Wednesday evening and they could reclaim top spot if they repeat that feat here though the Reds will be keen to bounce back from that disappointment by maintaining their perfect league start.
Champions Manchester City will also have their eyes of first place as they take on Brighton and Hove Albion at the Etihad Stadium, and few would bet against them being ruthless once move after netting eight in their last two outings.
Just one point and two places separate Arsenal and Watford ahead of their meeting at the Emirates Stadium while Tottenham Hotspur travel to bottom-of-the-table Huddersfield Town hoping to pile more misery on the Terriers.
Winless
David Wagner’s side are one of three yet to win this season with Cardiff City and Newcastle United also stuck in the relegation zone.
Cardiff take on Burnley on Sunday afternoon knowing that three points would see them leapfrog Sean Dyche’s side while Newcastle entertain Leicester City at St James’s Park.
Wolverhampton Wanderers can add to claims that they can break into the top six with victory over Southampton, who were thumped at Anfield last time out.
Chance
The game kicks off a favourable run of fixtures for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side who can currently be back at a price of 8/1 to finish sixth or indeed higher.
Everton will also have designs on finishing in the European places though back-to-back defeats have seen them slip into the bottom half and they are just a point better off than Fulham, who they welcome to Goodison Park on Saturday afternoon.
Finally, Monday evening’s action sees Bournemouth take on Crystal Palace at the Vitality Stadium.
The Cherries have been one of the surprise packages in the top flight this season, taking ten points from their opening five games before being hammered at Burnley last weekend though the Eagles will move on to ten themselves if they can get the win.
