Premier League preview: Norwich v Swansea

Promoted clubs Norwich City and Swansea City will clash at Carrow Road on Saturday, both aiming for a result that keeps them in the top 10.

Norwich (ninth) and Swansea (10th) have exceeded expectation in their first season up in the English top flight so far, with Paul Lambert’s men claiming five points from their first four home games.

Swansea will be looking for their first Premier League point on the road, after succumbing to losses at Manchester City, Chelsea and Arsenal this season.

But the might of that trio of clubs is there for all to see, meaning Brendan Rodgers’ men have a more realistic chance of breaking their away drought this season as they meet their fellow Championship club from last season.

Norwich won their home clash over their Welsh counterparts 2-0 last season, but the previous season saw Swansea take all three points from the Canaries’ home in a 3-2 victory.

Long-time Swansea midfielder Leon Britton was playing that day, and the playmaker is set for a return to the first XI after missing their win over Stoke recently due to a back injury.

And Rodgers said aside from a cloud over Britton’s availability, he had no fresh injury concerns.

“We are in good shape. The players have given everything this season. They have had a little rest now (over the international break) which will be good for them,” Rodgers said.

“They come back motivated and energised ahead of our next batch of games.”

Craig Beattie, Kemy Agustien, Steven Caulker, Alan Tate and Ferrie Bodde are Swansea’s long-term injury concerns, while Norwich’s unavailable squad members include James Vaughan, Zak Whitbread, Daniel Ayala and Elliott Ward.
