Queens Park Rangers will be desperate to gain the full three points when they open their 2012 account at home to Norwich City on Monday.
QPR have been winless through their past seven league fixtures, but have scored in four of those matches, only failing to beat the defences of strong outfits Liverpool, Manchester United and Arsenal.
Their ability to score against lesser opposition will not come as a consolation to manager Neil Warnock, as he seeks a victory to try to propel his side away from the dreaded drop zone, which they are hovering above in 17th spot.
Norwich are just five points above QPR, but are sitting in the top 10 on the table, and have a good record this season of taking something from away fixtures.
Paul Lambert’s side earned score draws at both Everton and Wolverhampton just prior to Christmas, but have faltered at home since, losing to Tottenham and drawing with Fulham.
However, they escaped with a point against Martin Jol’s outfit with a late equaliser from Simeon Jackson in Saturday’s clash, and will take momentum from that goal into their trip to London just two days later.
Earlier in the season, Norwich took all three points when the sides met at Carrow Road in a 2-1 victory, with Grant Holt scoring the winner.
QPR have also failed to score the past two times Norwich visited Loftus Road when the sides met in the Championship in recent times.
