Premier League preview: Tottenham v Bolton

High-flying Tottenham will look to extend their 10-match unbeaten streak in the English Premier League when they host Bolton on Saturday.

Harry Redknapp’s Spurs side have won nine of those games in their charge to third place on the table, and are likely to continue their impressive form against struggling Bolton.

After starting their campaign with losses to Manchester United and Manchester City, Tottenham have recovered in style and Redknapp says it is ‘not impossible’ for them to win the league.

“It’s very tight, we look a good team,” Redknapp said.

“We’ve got pace, we’re athletic, we’re young and we’ve got a bit of experience in the right areas as well. We certainly look a very decent team.”

“I said all along it’s not impossible. I’m not saying we’ll win the championship – it’s a very tall order and we’d be one of the outsiders of the (top) six to do it – but it’s not impossible.”

A major reason for Spurs’ success this season has been Redknapp’s willingness to play a second-string side in the Europa League, while new signings Emmanuel Adebayor and Scott Parker have flourished since moving to north London.

A weakened Tottenham team went down 2-1 at home to PAOK Salonika in the second-tier European competition on Wednesday.

But the first-choice players are sure to return to league duty this weekend, and they will be unlikely to offer any quarter to the visitors.

Bolton sit 18th in the standings and have conceded 19 goals in their five matches against top-seven opposition this season, making the trip to White Hart Lane a daunting one for Owen Coyle’s side.

The 2-0 home defeat to Everton on Saturday was Bolton’s 10th loss in 13 matches this season, the most of any team in the league.

No Bolton match has ended in a draw all season, with long-term injuries to Lee Chung-Yong (broken leg) and Stuart Holden (knee) clearly taking their toll.

Coyle’s men have picked up two of their three wins on the road this term, but they will be pressed to record another away victory against an in-form Tottenham side.
