Tottenham will aim to take advantage of shell-shocked West Brom at White Hart Lane on Tuesday.
Albion manager Roy Hodgson was bitterly disappointed when Everton’s Victor Anichebe grabbed the winner three minutes from time at the Hawthorns on Sunday.
With only 48 hours to restore his team’s confidence after the home defeat, Hodgson will be wary of a Spurs team unbeaten in their last four league games.
Manager Harry Redknapp will not need to remind his squad of the 3-1 away win they enjoyed in November when Emmanuel Adebayor scored twice.
Adebayor, who has netted nine league goals this campaign, is proving to be a handful and Hodgson will need to drill home to his defenders the significant threat he poses.
But Spurs also need to bounce back from conceding a late goal which cost them two valuable points on Saturday.
The 1-1 draw at Swansea stopped the north Londoners from taking full advantage of the defeats suffered by the league’s leading two clubs, the Manchester duo.
And the draw may have come at a cost.
Redknapp, already without defender Ledley King who has knee problems, will also be concerned by the loss of key midfielder Scott Parker after the England international was forced off injured with 20 minutes remaining, needing an ice pack on his right knee.
West Brom are likely to be without skipper Chris Brunt on Tuesday.
Brunt limped off at the end of the game and could face a spell on the sidelines.
“I don’t know (how long he will be out for),” Hodgson said.
“It’s a strange injury because he didn’t know what had happened to him. He felt a sharp pain in his standing leg when he tried to hook the ball clear.”
Already ruled out is Swedish defender Jonas Olsson with a calf strain.
Hodgson is under no illusions about the White Hart Lane clash.
“It will be tough. Tottenham Hotspur are a top team, they are after the Champions League and have been hailed by Sir Alex (Ferguson) as potential candidate for winning the league,” Hodgson said.
“So it’s a championship contender against a team who will have to work hard and play a lot better if we want to stay away from the relegation zone.”
West Brom could move up to ninth with the three points.
