Premier League preview: Wolves v Blackburn

Wolves midfielder Jamie O’Hara knows his side need to improve their home form if they want to avoid relegation.

Wolves sit 18th on the English Premier League table and have taken just 11 points of a possible 39 at Molineux this season.

The club’s home fixture against Blackburn – who are 17th – is shaping as vital and O’Hara is aware things need to change.

“Things just haven’t gone our way and results have been pretty shocking at home,” O’Hara said.

“To be fair, we, the players, haven’t been performing and that is probably half the reason the gaffer got the sack. You can’t sack players, can you?”

“It has been a poor season in terms of the results but we can still make it a positive one by staying in the Premier League and that is the main aim, to just get through and make sure we’ve got that for next season.”

“But we need to start winning at home.”

O’Hara’s teammate, Stephen Ward, is confident his side can survive the drop.

“We are the same group of players that stayed up these last two seasons,” Ward said.

“We are the ones in this position and of course we believe we can get out of it. We still do.”

Wolves were thumped 5-0 by Fulham in their last fixture and Karl Henry’s hamstring injury made things even worse.

Henry will miss the visit of Rovers but they have a relatively clean bill of health otherwise.

Blackburn’s only win away from Ewood Park this season came at Old Trafford as they beat Manchester United 3-2.

But Rovers will have no fears in travelling to Molineux, a ground they have not tasted defeat at since April 2000.

Blackburn won 3-2 at Wolves on the final day of the season last term to secure their survival, and they can go a long way to doing the same on Saturday.

In what shapes as a real relegation showdown, both sides will be scrapping for survival come kick-off on Saturday.
