Kenny Dalglish will want his Liverpool side to take their cup form into Tuesday’s English Premier League clash at Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Liverpool knocked Manchester City out of the Carling Cup on Wednesday, before a 2-1 win over Manchester United in the FA Cup fourth round three days later.
But Liverpool have collected just six points from their last six league outings to sit seventh on the table.
That run included a loss to Bolton and a home draw against Stoke City, meaning Dalglish will be desperate for his team to beat Wolves as they try and stay in touch with the top four.
The return of captain Steven Gerrard has provided Liverpool with a boost and the midfielder has already given his side an extra dimension in the attacking third.
There has been speculation this week suggesting Liverpool have offered to swap out-of-sorts striker Andy Carroll for out-of-favour Manchester City forward Carlos Tevez, a deal the league leaders reportedly rejected.
Carroll has had his moments since arriving from Newcastle in January last year, but despite his physical presence up front, the pressure of only two league goals this campaign is beginning to mount.
The England centre-forward badly needs to rediscover his best from, with Luis Suarez still missing because of suspension, while Jay Spearing and Lucas Leiva are both injured.
Liverpool have taken 16 points of a possible 33 on the road this season, and a trip to the Molineux will not hold any fears.
They took a 3-0 win away from there at the start of last year, but will meet a Wolves side wanting maximum points at home.
Wolves, sitting in the relegation zone, are winless from their last 10 outings in all competitions.
Striker Steven Fletcher has netted nine times to be a valuable commodity up front for Mick McCarthy’s team, while Matthew Jarvis has provided four assists.
McCarthy has several injury worries ahead of the clash, with Jamie O’Hara and Jody Craddock likely to miss out, although midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong, on loan from Arsenal, and Ronald Zubar could return.
Karl Henry is suspended after being sent off in Wolves’ 3-2 loss to Aston Villa on January 21.
