Manchester City eased past Everton on Saturday afternoon to move to within one win of Premier League glory.

The Citizens were at their free-flowing best at Goodison Park taking a commanding three goal lead inside thirty-seven minutes – Leroy Sane, Gabriel Jesus and Raheem Sterling with the goals.

The hosts pulled one back shortly after the hour mark through Yannick Bolasie – his first goal since returning from a year out with a knee injury though Pep Guardiola’s side held on for the win meaning that victory in the Manchester derby on Saturday will see them crowned Champions for the first time in four years.

Century

Manchester United stay in second after beating Swansea City by two goals to nil – Romelu Lukaku opening the scoring with his one hundredth Premier League goal on five minutes.

Alexis Sanchez doubled the Red Devils’ advantage fifteen minutes later with only his second goal since signing from Arsenal and that’s how it ended with Swansea City unable to put more distance between themselves and the bottom three.

Like the Swans, Crystal Palace are very much looking over their shoulder as they squandered a lead only to eventually lose to Liverpool.

On the spot

Luca Milivojevic netted yet another penalty thirteen minutes in though second half strikes from Sadio Mane and Mo Salah secured the win for Jurgen Klopp’s men, who now turn their attention to the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final tie with Manchester City which takes place at Anfield on Wednesday evening.

Sunday’s heavyweight clash at Stamford Bridge saw Tottenham Hotspur win at Chelsea for the first time in twenty-eight years and they like Liverpool had to come from a goal down to secure the points.

Alvaro Morata had put the Blues ahead only for Christian Eriksen to level with a stunning strike in first-half stoppage time.

Class

A quick-fire second half double from Dele Alli not only put the result beyond doubt but also went a long way to answering some of the midfielder’s critics with doubt being cast over his potential inclusion in England’s World Cup squad.

However, despite those concerns he is currently 1/33 to be included in Gareth Southgate’s selection for the tournament.

Earlier on Sunday Arsenal piled more misery on relegation threatened Stoke City with a 3-0 victory that keeps their grip firmly on sixth place.

In two mid-table battles, Watford and Bournemouth played out a 2-2 draw at the Hawthorns while Leicester City chalked up an impressive 2-0 win over Brighton and Hove Albion on the south coast.

Elsewhere on Saturday, Newcastle United edged past Huddersfield Town while West Ham United thumped fellow strugglers Southamtpon by three goals to nil.

Finally, Burnley’s fine season continued with another impressive away victory – this time West Bromwich Albion the team on the receiving end.

It was the Baggies eighth consecutive Premier League defeat and the result was enough to see the club part company with manager Alan Pardew, who won just one of the eighteen games in which he was in charge.
