Manchester City swept aside Huddersfield Town on Sunday afternoon and in doing so rose to the top of the Premier League.

Sergio Aguero was the star of the show after netting a hattrick – the ninth he has managed in the division with Alan Shearer (11) the only player to have managed more.

Pep Guardiola’s side were in scintillating form, scoring three goals in each half with Gabriel Jesus and David Silva also on the scoresheet while they were given an unneeded hand in the shape of an own goal from Terence Kongolo.

Aguero is now level with Teddy Sheringham in the list of all-time Premier League scorers with 146 though the Argentina international has reached that tally in half as many games.

With his manager saying he is in the best condition he has every seen, you can back him at a price of 10/3 to win the Golden Boot.

Curse ended

Of all the players to have scored over a hundred goals in the EPL only Harry Kane has a better goals-to-games ratio and he broke his August hoodoo after netting in Tottenham Hotspur’s 3-1 win over Fulham.

Lucas Moura opened the scoring in stunning fashion for the home side though Aleksander Mitrovic drew the visitors level seven minutes into the second half.

However, a superb free kick from Kieran Trippier restored Spurs’ lead before Kane put the result beyond doubt with his first ever top-flight strike in August.

Clean sheet

Liverpool are the only side left in the division yet to concede after they eased to a 2-0 win over Crystal Palace on Monday evening.

James Milner put Jurgen Klopp’s side in front from the penalty spot just before the break before Sadio Mane made it two in stoppage time after Aaron Wan-Bissaka had been sent off for the hosts.

Chelsea made it two wins from two after surviving a scare to edge past Arsenal, three goals to two while Bournemouth and Watford also have maximum points after winning at West Ham United and Burnley respectively.

Everton beat Southampton 2-1 at Goodison Park with Theo Walcott and Richarlison putting the hosts in cruise control before half time while Danny Ings scored a consolation for the Saints – his first goal for the club.

Dismissed

Leicester City beat Wolverhampton Wanderers by two goals to nil though they finished the game with ten men after Jamie Vardy was dismissed while Issac Hayden saw red for Newcastle United in their goalless draw with Cardiff City on Saturday lunchtime.

Kenedy, who himself was lucky to stay on after lashing out at Victor Camarasa off the ball missed a stoppage time penalty for Rafa Benitez’s side.

Finally, Manchester United were beaten 3-2 at Brighton and Hove Albion on Sunday afternoon, their third straight defeat at the Amex Stadium.
