The 20-year-old Cagliari midfielder Nicolo Barella has been sending huge shockwaves through the football world with his top-class performances for the Serie A outfit this season.
The young Italy international has thus far made 23 appearances in the top flight with his displays already alarming the likes of Juventus, AC Milan, Inter Milan and AS Roma.
According to the latest reports coming from Gazzetta dello Sport however, Premier League rivals Liverpool and Chelsea have also prepared to join the chase for the talented midfielder.
Jurgen Klopp and Antonio Conte have reportedly already sent their emissaries to watch the Italy U-20 international in action last week against Fiorentina. Liverpool and Chelsea continue to monitor Barella’s progress and are preparing summer bids for the Cagliari starlet.
Nicolo Barella is contracted to Cagliari until 2021 and the club president Tommaso Giulini is unwilling to let the player leave at this point as he is convinced the youngster will go on to develop into a future star.
Giulini will be tempted to sell, however, as Premier League rivals are believed to invest a significant amount to bring Barella to England next summer.
