Yesterday Rafael van der vaart told reporters that the clubs would have to wait until his Euro 2008 campaign finished before he will be discussing any possible moves. Now, that Holland has been eliminated, the Dutch star is rumoured to be at the centre of a transfer war.
According to News of the World, the Dutch playmaker has attracted the interest of Premier League title rivals Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United. The trio would all be willing to sign the sprkling midfielder but his current club, Hamburg, will demand £15 million for the services of their star player.
Manchester United would be interested in signing the player as a potential replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo, whose future at Manchester United seems to be doomed. Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez wants a replacement for Harry Kewell who has been released by the club, while Chelsea just wants to become stronger, all of that as reported by News of the Wolrd.
Rafael van der Vaart who is 25 years old, joined current club Hamburg in 2005 and has managed to score 29 league goals in 76 appearances in three years with the club. Manchester United and Liverpool fans would wonder just how this player would be a replacement for either Ronaldo or Kewell given that he plays in central midfield position.
