A hat-trick from Peter Odemwingie helped West Bromwich Albion to a 5-1 victory over Wolves in the Premier League on Sunday.
West Brom dominated the opening half and took the lead through Odemwingie before Steven Fletcher gave the home side a lifeline.
Both teams had plenty of chances in the second half but a strike from Jonas Olsson and substitute Keith Andrews either side of Odemwingie’s second sealed the points, before the Nigerian rounded out the scoring in the closing stages.
The visitors attacked from the outset but were denied by Wolves goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey, who thwarted efforts on goal from Jerome Thomas and Odemwingie.
The deserved breakthrough came in the 34th minute after Odemwingie cut inside from the right and saw his shot deflect off David Edwards and into goal.
Wolves got themselves back into the game with a superbly worked goal, as Fletcher combined with Ebanks Blake before rifling a shot into the bottom corner from the edge of the area.
West Brom started the second half in similar fashion to the first and were rewarded through Olson’s goal after a scramble from a corner.
Fletcher and Roger Johnson then came close to equalising once more for Wolves, but the visitors countered the revival through another Odemwingie goal.
As Wolves chased the game they left many gaps in defence and it was breached once more as Andrews struck via a big deflection following good work from James Morrison.
Odemwingie then scored his third goal of the match to seal the biggest win for his club under manager Roy Hodgson.
