(GSM) – Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger maintains his view that the Premier League is still the strongest league in Europe.
The Gynners will kick-off their Champions League campaign on Wednesday night at home when they face Portguese outfit Sporting Braga.
Despite the fact that Arsenal have reached the minimum of quarter-finalists for three consecutive seasons now, last season saw no Premier League representative in the semi-finals of the competition for the first time since 2002-03.
But Wenger insists the English should be confident that a home representative can feature at the Champions League final – which is set to be staged at Wembley – in 2011.
“The Premier League is still the strongest in Europe,” Wenger said. “What happened last season was an accident, and we have to show that this year.”
