Manchester United and Liverpool are closely monitoring Eduardo Salvio’s situation at Benfica, according to the Daily Mirror.
Namely, both clubs are keen on the winger’s signature, but the player’s €60 million release clause is proving an obstacle to any deal.
Nevertheless, Salvio and his representatives are in new contract talks with Benfica chiefs and they want said clause to be reduced with a view of the Argentine joining a top European club.
Manchester United had scouts present as Benfica defeated Sporting Braga at the weekend, while Liverpool and Zenit are keen as well.
Salvio is enjoying his most successful career since joining the club from Atletico Madrid, having netted 8 times in 23 league appearances.
The 24-year-old, who also started five of six Champions League group games this term, is believed to be looking for a new challenge and he will be hoping to impress the visiting scouts between now and the end of the season.
