Premiership giants to battle for Ashley Young
Manchester United and Liverpool are ready to bid for Aston Villa winger Ashley Young after his contract negotiations with the Villans have stalled.
Gerard Houllier is desperate to keep Young at Villa Park and he has said the player will cost more than £80 million, but Liverpool and Manchester United are still keen.
The England international has just 18 months on his current deal and he has yet to sign a contract extension, meaning he would be available for lot less than his manager has stated.
Sir Alex Ferguson likes the fact Young can play on both wings as well as in the middle, while he is also hoping to include some of his players in the deal taking the Aston Villa man to Old Trafford.
Villa have reportedly shown interest in Darron Gibson and Michael Carrick, so United are likely to offer Villa a cash plus player deal in January.
Unless Gerard Houllier persuades Young into signing a new deal before the end of the season, the player could easily move to Old Trafford at a cut-back price.

Chelsea target to stay put
Palermo Slovenian midfielder Armin Bacinovic will stay at Renzo Barbera despite interest from Chelsea according to his agent.
The Blues have been keeping tabs on the 21-year-old, who has exploded in his first Serie A season, but his agent says Bacinovic will stay put.
“Chelsea interest? I don’t know anything,” said Ruznic.
“It’s normal for the player to be followed, but we have not been contacted in any way.
“It’s nice to hear about these things, but our thoughts are with Palermo. We respect this club a lot. The player is very well is Sicily, he likes the city, the fans and the president.
“I don’t think Bacinovic will leave Palermo for at least two years.”
It is highly unlikely Palermo will allow the Slovenian to leave just six months after joining the club, but a hefty offer from Chelsea could make the club owners change their minds.

Del Bosque: A return to Real Madrid is impossible
Spain national team boss Vicente del Bosque has ruled out a future return to Real Madrid.
The experienced manager says that he will probably end his career after coaching La Furia Roja.
“It will be hard to return to coaching when I leave the national team,” said Del Bosque.
“Furthermore, it is impossible to return to Real Madrid. I don’t see that happening.”
The Spain coach also gave his views on the coming El Clasico.
“It is just a game, three points and they will both collect approximately 100 during the entire season.
”They both have the same pressure because their goal is to win. Without a doubt, the winner will experience a great joy.”
