Preston 1/1 to beat Birmingham in Saturday’s Championship matchup

Competition: Championship

Market: Preston win

Odds: 1/1 @ Bet 365

With the opportunity to potentially jump into the playoff positions, a resurgent Preston side will welcome Birmingham to Deepdale on Saturday afternoon.

Starting with the hosts, picking up a very impressive 2-1 win away at Middlesbrough in midweek, it’s no surprise Alex Neil is favourite to land the vacant job at West Brom. Now within touching distance of pulling off a very surprising playoff push, the Whites have won three of their last four and have not tasted defeat since New Year’s Day, an 11-match unbeaten run. One area most impressing fans around Deepdale will be their newfound stability on home soil. Neil’s men are yet to be beaten in front of their own fans in 2019 and even picked up a 3-1 win over title contenders Norwich last month.

As for the visitors, while Preston might be enjoying their brightest spell of the season, the same can not be said for Birmingham. Putting in another very worrying display in their 2-0 loss at home to leading relegation contenders Bolton in midweek, Gary Monk has now seen his side lose their last three matches on the bounce. With any chance of mounting their own playoff push appearing off the table for another season, the former Swansea boss will be growing more concerned by the Blues’ struggles in the final third. Saturday’s visitors have recorded just one goal in nearly 300 minutes of action.
