Preston 13/5 to beat Leeds United in Tuesday’s Championship showdown

Competition: Championship

Market: Preston win

Odds: 13/5 @ Bet 365

Looking to reclaim their spot at the top of the Championship, Leeds will make the trip to a resurgent Deepdale on Tuesday night.

Starting with the hosts, while Preston may have slumped to a last-gasp 1-0 defeat away at Reading over the weekend, there is no doubt that Alex Neil’s men will be glad to make a return to Deepdale in midweek. Arguably the Championship’s surprise package this season, the one-time Norwich boss finds his side sat in the top-six and dreaming off securing a shock play-off finish this year. Undeniably the biggest factor in Preston’s eye-catching start to the season has been their continued success on home soil. Picking up a 5-1 win against Barnsley in their last matchup at Deepdale, Tuesday’s hosts have won five of their opening six matches on home soil and have not tasted a Championship defeat in front of their own supporters since the 9th of April.

As for the visitors, although Leeds may still find themselves sat only behind league leaders West Brom and picking up a hard-fought 1-0 win over Birmingham on Saturday, Marcelo Bielsa’s men have shown some inconsistencies. The Whites have now won just three of their last eight matches across all formats. While Leeds might be tipped as a favorite to end their Premier League exile next summer, the former Napoli boss has seen his side continue to suffer some worrying hiccups outside of West Yorkshire. Suffering back-to-back away defeats against Charlton and Millwall, we’re backing a shock victory for Tuesday’s hosts.
