Preston 3/5 to beat Barnsley in Saturday’s Championship contest

Competition: Championship

Market: Preston win

Odds: 3/5 @ Bet 365

Handed the chance to potentially climb into the automatic positions, a high-flying Preston will welcome relegation scrappers Barnsley to Deepdale on Saturday afternoon.

Starting with the hosts, while Preston would have been disappointed to have only picked up a point away at Middlesbrough earlier in the week, the mood around Deepdale continues to soar. Shocking many in the Championship and the surprise package so far, Alex Neil has now seen his side enjoy a seven-match unbeaten run that stems all the way back to the 17th of August. Handed the chance to climb into the top-two, there is no doubt that the one-time Norwich boss will be most impressed by his side’s continued displays on home soil. The Whites are yet to lose a single matchup in front of their own supporters and have won four of their five appearances at Deepdale.

As for the visitors, while Preston might be enjoying a battle at the top end of the table, Barnsley find themselves in a very different position. Still sat in the drop zone, they are yet to pick up a single victory since the opening weekend and many feel that the Reds are destined for a League One return come May. Despite leaving it late to snatch a point off of Derby last weekend, Daniel Stendel’s men have lost three of their last four and have shown some real issues on the road. Yet to pick up an away victory so far, Barnsley have also now failed to find the net in all of their four matchups outside of South Yorkshire.
