Preston 6/5 to beat Sunderland in Saturdays Championship showdown

Competition: Championship
Market: Preston to beat Sunderland
Odds: 6/5 @ Bet 365

While Alex Neil’s Preston side are still harboring hopes of a late push for the playoff positions, on Saturday afternoon they will travel to the Stadium of Light to face a Sunderland side who look a certainty for back-to-back relegations.

For the hosts on Saturday afternoon, while former Wales boss Chris Coleman has offered the struggling black cats a small piece of stability, Sunderland are still drastically struggling to pick up a significant amount of points and still sat bottom of the Championship table, it looks like life in League One is becoming more likely by the week. Coming off the back of defeats to Aston Villa and QPR, Coleman’s side have now failed to pick up a league win in their last nine attempts, they have also failed to keep a clean sheet in any of those nine outings. Winning just five of their 37 Championship matches this year, Sunderland are now chasing a four-point deficit and also boast the single worst defensive record in the league.

As for the visitors on Saturday afternoon, former Norwich boss Alex Neil will know that his Preston North End side still remain in the hunt for a top-six finish. While Preston may currently be eighth in the Championship table, the Lilywhites are only four points adrift of Middlesbrough in sixth and have now only lost two of their last 10 appearances. While Neil’s side may have dropped some silly points at Deepdale, Preston have picked up some notable points on the road, now unbeaten in their last five away matches, Preston have taken points off Cardiff and Aston Villa on their travels this year.
