(GSM) – There is plenty to play for in Polokwane on Tuesday as Argentina and Greece square off with differing ambitions in a Group B clash at Peter Mokaba Stadium.
Argentina enter the game on maximum points from victories over Nigeria and Korea Republic, and a single point would ensure that Diego Maradona’s side go through as Group B winners.
After looking dreadful in a loss to Korea Republic, Greece came back to life against 10-man Nigeria with a 2-1 victory to keep their hopes alive for qualification.
If Greece win, and Korea Republic fail to beat Nigeria, then Otto Rehhagel’s men will qualify. They could also go through with a draw depending on the result of the other game.
It is likely that Argentina will rest a few players, including Carlos Tévez. They do have the suspension of Jonas Gutiérrez to deal with as well.
Juan Sebastián Verón is likely going to come back into the team after missing the win over Korea Republic with an injury.
For Greece, the same set-up is likely for Rehhagel with no suspensions or injuries – less the continued problems for Vangelis Moras – to deal with.
Bookings will also be a concern as teams look ahead to the round of 16.
Javier Mascherano and Gabriel Heinze are sitting on yellow cards, and they both will likely be held out to prevent them from earning a one-match ban.
For Greece, Vassilis Torosidis, Sokratis Papastathopoulos, Alexandros Tziolis and Georgios Samaras are all sitting on bookings for one of the two matches.
