Preview of this weekends big La Liga fixtures

With all the latest European Championship qualifiers now complete attention will be turned back to the domestic leagues.

Due to a players strike the Spanish La Liga is only in round two of the schedule.

In week two there are some interesting encounters, one of them is champions Barcelona visiting Real Sociedad.

The champions will be hoping to make it six points from two games with victory over Sociedad. The home side narrowly avoided relegation last season, after they were promoted to La Liga the season before.

Real Sociedad are again among the favourites to be relegated this season and will find it tough against the European Champions. Sociedad did however win their opening game against Sporting Gijon. This encounter could prove rather more difficult for Real Sociedad though.

Barcelona are expected to welcome back captain Carles Puyol, who is back in training after injury. Versatile Brazilian Adriano is also expected to return to the squad after an absence through injury. Barcelona will be confident of victory in this encounter.

One of the other big games in La Liga this weekend is Villarreal hosting Sevilla at El Madrigal. The home side suffered a 5-0 hammering away to Barca in their opening game but will be favourites to beat their Andalucían opponents.

Sevilla enjoyed a 2-1 win over big spending Malaga in their opening game of the season. A first half brace from Alvaro Negredo gave the Sevilla a comfortable lead, before Malaga midfielder Santi Cazorla got a late consolation goal on his competitive debut.

Both sides are expected to challenge for the Champions League this season and this should be a cracking game to watch.

Real Madrid kicked-off their La Liga campaign with a blistering 6-0 victory over Real Zaragoza. Los Blancos play their first home game of the campaign against city-rivals Getafe. Real’s Cristiano Ronaldo scored a hat trick in the clubs opening game and he will be looking to increase his goal tally against Getafe.

Real Madrid are optimistic that they can dethrone Barcelona as top dogs in the Spanish La Liga. Los Blancos are looking playing well but it will be a difficult task for Real Madrid to overthrow their bitter-rivals.

Getafe kicked-off their La Liga campaign with a home draw against Levante. Getafe are expected to struggle this season but they have improved their squad with the signing of midfielder Pedro Leon from Real. Everything points to a home win in this clash.

Another big game in La Liga is Valencia hosting Atletico Madrid at the Mestalla. These are two teams expected to challenge for the European spots this season. Valencia opened their campaign with a 4-3 home victory over Racing Santander, striker Roberto Soldado scoring a hat trick.

Atletico made an uninspiring start to their season with a 0-0 draw at home to Osasuna. Atletico lost striker Diego Forlan on deadline day but signed Brazilian playmaker Diego on-loan, who is expected to make his debut in this clash.

Valencia also lost Juan Mata in the transfer window but have strengthened their backline with the signing of former-Espanyol star Victor Ruiz. With Atletico still looking inconsistent, Valencia have to be favourites in this clash.

Who will be the big winners in this weekends La Liga fixtures?

Isn’t it obvious? Even a blind man can see that spain is a two team league. Barca and Madrid first and second. EVERYONE ELSE will play for third no analysis required even if the big two lose a game or two. The standings at e end of the season will be e same *PREDICTABLE*

I think Barca and R.madrid will be the big winners of this wkend’s La liga encounter. Barca will win R.sociedial by 6 goals to nothing while R.madrid will demolish Gatafe by 5 goals to 1. But above all, Messi will score a quadruple, and a blaze for C.ronaldo. Barca 4 life.
