Previewing Saturday’s English Premier League fixtures: Part I

English Premier League action resumes on Saturday, March 31 with seven fixtures scheduled to kick-off at 15:00 GMT.

Part I of this segment will include betting odds, match previews and match predictions for Aston Villa v Chelsea, Everton v West Bromwich Albion and Fulham v Norwich City, while Part II will feature Manchester City v Sunderland, Queens Park Rangers v Arsenal, Wigan Athletic v Stoke City and Wolverhampton Wanderers v Bolton Wanderers.

Now then, let’s get started.

Betting Odds

Aston Villa (4/1) v Chelsea (10/11); Draw (5/2)

Everton (13/15) v West Bromwich Albion (4/1); Draw (13/5)

Fulham (8/11) v Norwich City (9/2); Draw (29/10)

Bet of the Day: West Brom to win at Goodison Park (4/1).

Preview: Aston Villa v Chelsea

Roberto Di Matteo and Chelsea travel to Villa Park to take on Alex McLeish and Aston Villa on Saturday.

Chelsea will be looking to build on their 1-0 win over Benfica in the UEFA Champions League in midweek, while Villa are eyeing a result after losing 3-0 at the Emirates Stadium last weekend.

The Blues are big favorites heading into Villa Park, and rightfully so. Alex McLeish’s side, somewhat surprisingly, have a better away record (3-8-4) than home record (4-4-6).

Meanwhile, Chelsea have been certainly less than stellar away from Stamford Bridge, posting a 5-5-5 away record.

Furthermore, the Blues have scored just 18 goals in 15 away fixtures, while Villa have netted 15 in their 14 home matches. Thus, you can expect goals to be few and far between at Villa Park on Saturday.

Prediction

Advantage Chelsea, 1-0 Blues.

Preview: Everton v West Bromwich Albion

West Brom, who are currently 11 points above the relegation zone, travel to the Merseyside to battle Everton at Goodison Park on Saturday.

The Toffees recent purple patch has seen them rise to ninth place in the Premier League table, while Albion’s three-game winless streak has seen them fall to 14th place.

Everton are pretty good at Goodison Park, posting a 6-3-6 home record while conceding just 14 goals in 15 matches. On the other hand, the Toffees have bagged just 15 goals in front of their home supporters.

Meanwhile, Albion have the fifth best away record, 6-4-5,  in the Premier League. In other words, something’s got to give at Goodison on Saturday.

Prediction

The visitors shock the home crowd, 2-1 West Brom.

Preview: Fulham v Norwich City

Premier League newcomers Norwich City travel to Craven Cottage to clash with Fulham on Saturday, March 31.

After winning three straight matches against the likes of Stoke City, Queens Park Rangers and Wolverhampton Wanderers, Fulham have dropped their last three games against Aston Villa, Swansea City and Manchester United.

On the other side of the touchline, Norwich are coming off a 2-1 comeback victory over Wolves.

The Canaries will be without talisman Grant Holt at the weekend after the Englishman was sent off after accumulating two yellow cards against Wolves last weekend.

Prediction

Nothing to separate the two sides, 1-1 draw.
