Previewing Sunday’s English Premier League fixtures

Previewing Sunday's English Premier League fixtures

Three English Premier League fixtures are on the matchday schedule for Sunday, March 4 — Newcastle United v Sunderland, Fulham v Wolverhampton Wanderers and Tottenham Hotspur v Manchester United — setting up another thrilling weekend finale in the Premier League.

As usual, this segment will feature betting odds, match previews and predictions. Enjoy.

Betting Odds

Newcastle United (15/13) v Sunderland (11/4); Draw (12/5)

Fulham (8/13) v Wolverhampton Wanderers (11/2); Draw (31/10)

Tottenham Hotspur (19/10) v Manchester United (8/5); Draw (12/5)

Newcastle United v Sunderland: Match Preview

Martin O’Neill and his surging Sunderland side travel to Sports Direct Arena to battle Alan Pardew’s Newcastle United on Sunday afternoon.

The Magpies have suffered a dip in form of late, winning just two of their last six games, and conceding five goals in losses to Fulham and Spurs, while also losing to Brighton in round four of the FA Cup at the end of January.

Prior to being demolished 4-0 by West Bromwich Albion on February 25, Sunderland had been on exceptional form.

Can they regain their golden touch at the Sports Direct Arena on Sunday?

Players to Watch

Unsurprisingly, Demba Ba is the man to watch for the Toon on Sunday.

The Senegalese international has undoubtedly been the best European signing of 2011-12, netting an impressive 16 Premier League goals in 22 appearances this season. Unstoppable.

For  Sunderland, Stephane Sessegnon, who has bagged six goals and seven assists in 26 league games, has been the danger man all season long.

Prediction

Newcastle avoid disappointment, 2-1 Toon.

Fulham v Wolverhampton Wanderers: Match Preview

Coming off a 2-2 draw against Newcastle United, 16th-place Wolverhampton Wanderers will take on Fulham at Craven Cottage on Sunday, March 4.

Fulham have been on solid form in 2012, posting a 5-1-3 record in all competitions.

In contract, Wolves have posted a record of 1-3-5 in 2012.

As a result, Fulham are heavy favorites to win on Sunday.

Players to Watch

Fulham talisman Clint Dempsey, who led the United States to a 1-0 win over European giants Italy in midweek, is surely the player to watch in this fixture.

England international Matthew Jarvis is the key player for the visitors.

If Jarvis can create chances for Wolves on the counter, they may just steal three points at Craven Cottage on Sunday.

Prediction

Fulham drop two points at home, 1-1 draw.

Tottenham Hotspur v Manchester United: Match Preview

Second-place Manchester United travel to White Hart Lane to face Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.

It took an injury-time winner for United to defeat Norwich last week, with Ryan Giggs ultimately doing the honors.

Will United provide similar drama at the weekend? We shall see.

On the other side of the touchline, Spurs are coming off a disappointing 5-2 loss to bitter rivals Arsenal, setting up a must-see clash between the clubs on Sunday.

Players to Watch

For United, keep an eye on hitman Wayne Rooney, while former Red Devil striker Louis Saha is the player to watch for Spurs. No introductions necessary.

Prediction

Advantage United, 2-1 Red Devils.
