Previewing Sunday’s EPL fixtures

Saturday marked another thrilling, yet controversial day in the English Premier League.

The day started out with Luis Suarez refusing to shake Patrice Evra’s hand prior to Manchester United clash with Liverpool at Old Trafford.

Suarez, who made headlines for all the wrong reasons following the game, scored Liverpool’s only goal in a 2-1 defeat to United.

Unfortunately, much like Mario Balotelli, controversy seems to follow Suarez where ever he goes.

What will the next Suarez v Evra chapter have in store for us?

Now then, the night was capped off by Tottenham Hotspur’s 5-0 rout of Newcastle United, with Benoit Assou-Ekotto (4′), new signing Louis Saha (6′, 20′), Niko Kranjcar (34′) and Emmanuel Adebayor (64′) all on the score-sheet.

Tomorrow should be another promising day of English Premier League action, with Wolverhampton Wanderers v West Bromwich Albion and Aston Villa v Manchester City on the schedule.

Let’s get started with tomorrow’s previews and predictions.

Wolverhampton Wanderers v West Bromwich Albion:

West Brom travel to Molineux to take on 17th place Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday.

Albion are currently 15th in the table, sitting on 26 points in 24 matches played, and will surely be looking to get a result out of this fixture.

Players to Watch

For Wolves, Steven Fletcher is the man to watch.

The Scotland international has bagged nine goals and one assist in 19 Premier League appearances in 2011-12, and has undoubtedly been Wolves’ most dangerous attacking player all season long.

Fletcher is closing in on third consecutive season with 10 or more goals in all competitions.

Will he reach that milestone on Sunday? We shall see.

On the opposing side, Peter Odemwingie is surely the danger man for the visitors.

The Nigeria international’s blistering pace should give Wolves fits all afternoon.

Look for Odemwingie to score his fifth goal of the season tomorrow.

Prediction

I fancy West Brom in this one, 2-1 Albion.

Aston Villa v Manchester City:

Second place Manchester City will be eyeing three points when they travel to Villa Park to take on 14th place Aston Villa on Sunday.

City are currently one point behind United, but have this fixture in hand.

A draw would take City on top on goal-difference, while three points would take them two points clear of the defending champions.

Nonetheless, Mancini will surely be seeking the full three points in this one.

Players to Watch

David Silva is seemingly at the center of every City attack. Expect more of the same at Villa Park tomorrow night.

For Villa, Darren Bent will be absolutely vital if Alex McLeish’s side are to get anything out of this fixure.

If Bent can poach one, I like Villa’s odds, not really.

Prediction

City win convincingly, 3-0 noisy neighbours. So much for Bent poaching one.
