Manchester City, Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal and Liverpool are all in action in the English Premier League on Wednesday, with Manchester City v Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur v Stoke City, Everton v Arsenal and Queens Park Rangers v Liverpool on the matchday schedule.
In this segment, I’ll be previewing and predicting the first two matches, Manchester City v Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur v Stoke City, which kick-off at 19:45 GMT.
Now then, here are the betting odds for Wednesday’s first two fixtures.
Betting Odds
Manchester City (10/11) v Chelsea (7/2); Draw (13/5)
Tottenham Hotspur (4/9) v Stoke City (15/2); Draw (18/5)
Preview: Manchester City v Chelsea
Roberto Di Matteo and his rejuvenated Chelsea side travel to the Etihad Stadium to take on fellow Italian Roberto Mancini and Manchester City on Wednesday night.
Chelsea have won four straight games in all competitions since losing to West Bromwich Albion in the Premier League on March 3, while City have fallen four points behind their bitter inner-city rivals Manchester United, albeit with a game in hand.
All things considered, we’re in for a cracker at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday.
Players to Watch
Chelsea striker Fernando Torres may have regained his talisman touch following his brace versus Leicester City in the FA Cup on Sunday.
That being said, I doubt Di Matteo will drop Drogba in favor of the Spaniard.
The Ivorian has bagged three goals and one assist in his last four appearances for the Blues, and is undoubtedly on the best form he’s enjoyed all season.
For Manchester City, Sergio Aguero is the man to watch. The Argentine has the pace, guile and form to cause the Blues’ back four a lot of problems.
Like Torres, Aguero is also coming off a brace, with the Argentine’s coming against Sporting in the UEFA Europa League.
Prediction
Nothing to separate the two sides, 1-1 draw.
Preview: Tottenham Hotspur v Stoke City
Tony Pulis and Stoke City travel to White Hart Lane to face struggling Tottenham Hotspur, still bossed by Harry Redknapp, on Wednesday night.
Tottenham have been on poor form of late, dropping their last three league games, while conceding nine goals and only netting three.
Meanwhile, Stoke have won two of their last three Premier League matches, but are coming off a 1-0 loss to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on March 10.
With both clubs coming off losses, something’s got to give on Wednesday at White Hart Lane.
Players to Watch
Emmanuel Adebayor, who has bagged 11 goals and 11 assists in 25 league appearances in 2011-12, is the man to watch for Spurs, while winger Matthew Etherington is the main supply man for Stoke.
Prediction
Tottenham cruise to victory, 2-0 Spurs.
