Part II of this segment will include betting odds, match previews and predictions for Wednesday’s 20:00 GMT fixtures: Everton v Arsenal and Queens Park Rangers v Liverpool.
Can the Gunners maintain their purple patch at Goodison Park? Will Liverpool be able to find the back of the net against QPR?
Now then, let’s tackle both of these questions. But first, here are the betting odds for the matches at Goodison Park and Loftus Road on Wednesday night.
Betting Odds
Everton (17/8) v Arsenal (7/5); Draw (12/5)
Queens Park Rangers (4/1) v Liverpool (5/6); Draw (11/4)
Preview: Everton v Arsenal
Arsene Wenger leads his resurgent Arsenal side to Goodison Park to take on David Moyes’ Everton on Wednesday evening.
Since suffering back-to-back losses to AC Milan and Sunderland in mid-February, the Gunners have won four straight games in all competitions.
In that span, Arsenal beat the likes of Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool, AC Milan and Newcastle United, bagging 12 goals and conceding just four.
Purple patch? I’d say so.
Meanwhile, Everton had been on cracking form prior to losing 3-0 to their bitter Merseyside rivals Liverpool at Anfield on March 13.
Was Everton’s performance, or lack thereof, in the Merseyside derby a sign of bad things to come for the Toffees, or will David Moyes’ side regain their form and confidence with a win against Arsenal?
Players to Watch
Sylvain Distin is the player to watch for Everton. The former Manchester City defender is a boss in the air for the Toffees, and must have a good game if Everton are to get a result against in-form Arsenal on Wednesday.
On the other side of the touchline, captain fantastic Robin van Persie is the danger man for the Gunners. 26 goals and eight assists in 28 Premier League appearances is all you need to know.
Prediction
The Toffees stymie the Gunners, 1-1 draw.
Preview: Queens Park Rangers v Liverpool
Liverpool travel to Loftus Road to battle Premier League newcomers Queens Park Rangers on Wednesday, with QPR in desperate need of three points to stay above the dreaded “bottom three”.
With Liverpool posting a 6-1-7 record away from Anfield in 2011-12, Mark Hughes’ side may just fancy their chances.
But to be perfectly honest, one point from this fixture may just be hard enough to come by for QPR, who have posted a 2-5-7 home record in the league this season.
As they say, something’s got to give on Wednesday, with Liverpool the favorites not to give in.
Prediction
A precious point for QPR and disappointment for Liverpool, 0-0 draw.
