Previewing Wednesday’s English Premier League fixtures

Roberto Mancini

English Premier League action continues on Wednesday, April 11, with four fixtures on the matchday schedule, including: Manchester City v West Bromwich Albion, Wigan Athletic v Manchester United, Wolverhampton Wanderers v Arsenal and Queens Park Rangers v Swansea City.

As always, this segment will feature betting odds, match previews and match predictions for Wednesday’s Premier League matches. However, note that this edition will exclude a match preview and prediction for Queens Park Rangers v Swansea City. My apologies. Now then, let’s get started.

Betting Odds

Manchester City (2/7) v West Bromwich Albion (14/1); Draw (11/2)

Wigan Athletic (9/1) v Manchester United (2/5); Draw (4/1)

Wolverhampton Wanderers (7/1) v Arsenal (5/11); Draw (15/4)

Queens Park Rangers (6/5) v Swansea City (13/5); Draw (12/5)

Bet of the Day

Wednesday’s value bet of the day is Wolves to draw with Arsenal at Molineux, paying 15/4 odds.

Preview: Manchester City v West Bromwich Albion

Manchester City will look to get back on form when they host West Bromwich Albion at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday.

City are 15-1-0 at home in the league this season, having scored 47 goals and conceding just 10. That being said, Roberto Mancini’s recent struggles have landed them eight points adrift of bitter inner-city rivals Manchester United.

To say that Wednesday’s game is a must-win for City is probably the understatement of the season. In fact, City must win, and hope that United slip up against Wigan Athletic at the DW Stadium if they want to get themselves back in title contention.

Prediction

Advantage City, 4-0 City rout.

Preview: Wigan Athletic v Manchester United

Since the return of Paul Scholes, Manchester United have won 34 out of 36 points, including their current steak of eight straight league wins.

In other words, United are peaking at the opportune moment, taking full advantage of City’s late-season collapse.

On the other side of the touchline, Wigan find themselves in the bottom three.

To be perfectly honest, they deserve their place having bagged a Premier league low 30 goals this season, while Arsenal talisman Robin van Persie has netted 26 goals in the league in 2011-12.

All things considered, Wigan need points to survive, while United need points to fight off a City comeback.

Prediction

United grind out another three points, 2-1 Red Devils.

Preview: Wolverhampton Wanderers v Arsenal

Fresh off their 1-0 win over Manchester City, the Gunners are surely eyeing another win when they take on Wolves at Molineux Stadium on Wednesday.

Despite Arsenal recent resurgence, Wenger’s side have been less than stellar away from home, posting a 7-2-7 record away from the Emirates Stadium.

Meanwhile, Wolves have posted the worst home record in the English Premier League, 3-2-11.

Since replacing Mick McCarthy as Wolves manager, Terry Connor has tallied just one point from a possible 21.

To sum up, expect an inspired Wolves performance on Wednesday.

Prediction

Wolves gain another improbable point under Connor, 2-2 draw.
